Anyone else excited to see the remake of "The Manchurian Candidate"
http://www.manchuriancandidatemovie.com/everythingisgoingtobeok.html

I saw the previews before the Troy movie and it's looking really good. They have Denzel Washington in the Frank Sinatra role and Meryl Streep doing Angela Lansbury's Oscar winning role.

I think this is going to be a great movie!

1. There was nothing wrong with the original.
Angela Lansbury was the perfect choice.

I don't see a need for this remake, but I might rent both movies when they're available to compare them.

3. Visually Troy was stunning, but the script....
had sus and I laughing during the entire movie.

It didn't help that we were in the 4th row from the front. To be honest, the movie was a gay man's wet dream - plenty of naked, oiled beefcake!

8. The Manchurian Candidate was so good in its original form
with neurotic Lawrence Harvey and a surprisingly evil Angela Lansbury and that sad musical score that I have a hard time believing that a remake could be any better.

The track record of remakes has not been good. Doesn't Hollywood have any original ideas?

9. Never been a Liev Scriber fan.
He's irritating, but then again, so was Laurence in the first one. I don't categorically dismiss remakes, but Demme has gone a good long time without a good movie (and I consider Silence his last good film, not counting documentaries).

Still, Meryl Streep as the ultimate Oedipal mom, that's inspired. Who knows?...
