take me out to the ball game

Saturday was just a splendid day for me & Mrs. V. We had free tickets to the Orioles' game -- vs. the Angels, my team -- and it's the only time they were to be in town this year. We both had a beer and boy, did they hit the spot. I'm not really supposed to drink so it was a guilty pleasure. :9

The game was pretty good, too: plenty of great offense, some stellar defensive plays on both sides. Excellent pitching by Jarrod Washburn (now 7-1). We were both dismayed by the O's fans: they booed Vlad Guerrero (for which he made them pay in his first at bat by knocking it out of the park); they booed their own pitcher because Mazilli didn't take him out soon enough to suit them; in the 9th, someone released a bunch of trash into a strong breeze and it all flew out all over the field. There was trash everywhere -- and the umpires didn't bother to call out the crew to clean it up. It was clearly distracting to both teams.

We both got new hats. As the game ended the rain began, and we walked back to the car in the rain, a wonderful experience.

I'm in love with Mrs. V. and baseball rocks.

that my team, my heart-breaking team of my life, won the WS in '02 and is so freaking red-hot this year. It's hard to explain what it's like. :)

were you also a fan when they were the California Angels? they broke my 8 year old heart when I saw them play my Red Sox in a doubleheader for my first game ever at Fenway Park and swept them.

My Astros let me down a little yesterday, but hey, there's another game day after tomorrow...;)

isn't a cakewalk this year. I'd love to see them make it to the Series. :bounce:
