any Ultimate Frisbee players here?
I once thought this was game for the Gerogre Costanzas of the world but then I played it a few years back. What a sport! It takes a lot skill but newcomers can still have a lot of fun. Its just fun, all around.

2. Yes...
I took up ultimate soon after coming to Vancouver and have been playing ever since. We're lucky in Vancouver that we have one of the largest organized ultimate leagues in North America (220+ teams, all levels). I'm getting old, so I'm only playing on (and captaining) one team now and not two - I'm slowly trading in my cleats for the yoga mat...

-SM, whose B-level team is off to a 2-2 start this year...

4. Good luck with the club team!
The caliber of league play (at the A-level) here in Vancouver is high enough that all the club teams are super competitive and usually compete well at the Canadian Nationals and Worlds (Vancouver has a deep pool of very skilled players for club teams to draw from...)

Myself, I've pretty much gotten as good as I'm going to get (B-level), I'm in my early 30's, not very tall, not particularly fast. Until this year I played on an A-level team, but it was getting hard for me to compete with all the 6-foot tall 20-year olds...

-SM, who at least can still play zone defense without embarrassing himself...

5. i used to play when i was in austin
lots of fun, great exercise.

i first heard about it in college, but i never played because i sucked at throwing a frisbee. how silly of me!

it took me several games before i realized that throwing a frisbee well is, or at least can be, only a very small part of the game.

my key talent is defense, especially reading the thrower and sprinting to knock down a disc and immediately tearing for the goal while a teammate picks up the downed disc.

the moral is, you never have to throw it if you only ever catch it in the end zone!
