REMINDER!!! GET YOUR GAS TODAY SO YOU CAN
participate in the boycott tomorrow (5/19)- or, if you can put it off, do so so that the stations don't have a major increase today that would help offset tomorrow. I'm off to work early just so I can fill up now.peace

1. Don't bother, Lindsey...
A one-day boycott, especially if you're just shifting your purchase by one day or the other, will have no effect whatever.

see snopes.

2. Please do not pass along this bogus info.
A one-day gas boycott would do nothing.

6. I am tired of getting e-mails about this.
I can't count the number of people I have sent to Snopes.

3. What a waste of effort
Edited on Tue May-18-04 01:36 PM by HFishbine
Sorry, nothing personal, but a boycott is when people choose to do without. Buying gas today instead of tomorrow is no sacrifice and will have ZERO effect on gas prices.

Get back to us when there is a carpool week or a "buy a fuel efficient car" month.

You don't need to be so RUDE about it. I'm only trying to do what I can do. I don't need to be "scolded" by YOU to not pass bogus information - thanks guys for your positive support of my efforts. see ya....maybe I need to stay off of this board for a while.

5. Don't take it personally.
This myth of an email has been going around for years. In the past couple of days, it's been addressed on at least six different threads in this forum, GD, and Activism. Don't leave DU just because you got snarked at once.

12. Were you responding to me or to HFishbine?
Your post comes under HFishbine's, but your subject line is addressed to me.

If it's to me, I have no idea what about my post could be considered "rude." Bogus means false. Is it rude to point out that someone is spreading false information?

7. That only works if you really boycott and don't USE gas on that day.
If everyone did not drive their cars on a day, that would drop the consumption of gas. But just waiting a day to buy does nothing.

9. This post illustrates the flaw in this 'boycott' -
if you are buying it today or the day after tomorrow in order to avoid buying it tomorrow, you haven't boycotted anything.

14. you're better off boycotting exxon mobil and bp,
according the site below, SUNOCO and CITGO are the only major oil companies that are really deserving of consumer support.

15. One day boycotts are meaningless and stupid.
You want to boycott, figure out which oil company is worst environmental offender and boycott that one.
