Documentary about the Weather Underground on PBS tonight.

Starts at 9 pm out of Milwaukee.

Shows how "our side" went off the deep end just as bad as Tim McVeigh and others on the far right.

In fact they went through extraordinary measures to make sure no one would get hurt.

Unlike McVeigh, who was perfectly happy that he blew up a day care center.

7. I would guess not themselves but their portrayal in the media encouraged

the rw polarization. Same sort of demonization was done to the SDS, Black Panthers, Yippies, etc. Scary people!

8. A lot of it was self-inflicted.

The more idiotic radicals that kept popping up, even those who wern't egged-on by FBI provocateurs.

I watched a film of one SDS meeting where blatant Maoists kept screaming at the more moderates, shouting them down.

10. See, I disagree.

I don't see any significant difference between them and the patriots who dumped the tea in Boston Harbor.

It may be wrong, but it's really only property damage, and a whole lot better than what they were fighting against.

4. It's an excellent documentary...

I saw it last year up here in Maine at the Maine Int'l Film Festival...very intense, and very sad...

And no, they never killed anyone outside their group, but a bunch of them died when a bomb they were making accidentally went off...
