If rush hour is such a problem in our country,
WHY THE FRACK don't corporations allow workers to work different shifts?

Everybody working from 9 to 5 (or 8 to 4:30) creates a ton of congestion and it can only get worse.

This also adds to the sheer wasting of gas due to excessive idling.

Is it too sensical to have people working varying hours? Like more working 7 to 3:30, 9 to 6, 1 to 9, and so on?

1. Back during the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles

there was a voluntary program for major businesses to do that to avoid traffic congestion between venues.

Worked great.

Which is probably why they didnt continue it. Makes too much sense.

And, I wouldnt be entirely surprised if oil conglomerates werent covertly against such measures, since less waste = less demand = less revenue.

2. I usually work second shift and I prefer that
Traffic is a very small part of that. I just like not having to get up early. Manufacturing jobs are like that though. They keep hours 24 hours a day. It's mostly white collar and retail that do the 9-5 gig.

3. Meetings
In management, they want you all there at the same time so you can sit through the interminable meetings all together.

4. It used to take me 5 minutes to get to work.
With the upcoming new job, it will take maybe 2.

I'll be pushing myself out the door at 7:58am! Damn. I love not having to deal with that bullshit anymore. Needless to say (whatever that means), I now live in a rural area. Nice.
