Women rape men in AIDS fury

SOUTH Africa, where human rights groups say one in two women risks being raped, is grappling with a new twist to its biggest public health problem: women who rape men, often at gunpoint, in a deliberate attempt to infect them with AIDS.

In one recent case, a 39-year-old father of three was ambushed on his way home from work late at night on the East Rand, near Johannesburg.

Three armed women forced him to accompany them to an isolated field near his bus stop.

The man was ordered to strip and was then raped by each of the women.

The traumatised victim told police one of the women had mocked him with the words: "Welcome to the world of AIDS."

The assault was the latest in a string of similar rapes in recent months.

WHat the hell is this world coming to?

Particularly with the "Welcome to the world of AIDS" bit. Sounds like other urban legends that circulated in the 80s and 90s.

is that they don't HAVE to be false. It becomes legend in the telling and retelling not by virtue of it's veracity.

Where I certainly have some doubts about the frequency of this sort of thing I don't see it as completely implausable.

So, who knows. I've seen some pretty wierd shit coming out of SA in the last few months, murder, rape, canabalism that sort of stuff. I have no idea if any of it is true, just seems that that SA is almost to a point of anarchy in some way.

Then again, WTF do I know? What I read in the papers.

I mean, you know, the guy has to be somewhat ready for sex. Three kidnappers holding him at gunpoint kind of kills the mood, doesn't it?

by just stabbing him with an infected hypodermic needle?

It would be a hell of a lot easier.

This sounds made-up to me.

transmit AIDS from a female to a male through "normal" intercourse than it is from a male to a female. Statistically their odds of actually infecting the guy would be pretty low.

exaggeration at best is what is sounds like
