Anyone here see "The Straight Story"?
OMG...Hard to believe this was Lynch flick! This movie made me want to move out to "Iowayyyy" after seeing it. Lemme put it this way: it makes cornfields interesting.

1. I liked it a lot.
It was slow, but that was the point. I mean, how fast can a cross-country trip on a lawn mower be? I'm strictly a west coaster, so getting all of the images and pictures of the "heartland" from the odd and unique perspective of David's was wonderful. Not to mention an amazing and true story line.

3. Beautiful movie...
and just downright weird when you consider it was a Lynch film.

4. Loved it!
Tame for Lynch, but if you think about it, it's got all the elements that normally characterize Lynch's films.

5. Liked it, but not crazy about it.
I like to be haunted by his work. This wasn't exactly haunting.

6. I dunno
I found the Father Daughter relationship to be endearingly haunting....they never showed much of the two together but you understood and felt how strong their bond was through his stories...

7. It's one of my all time favorites.
Richard Farnsworth lived in New Mexico not far from where I live. His portrayal of Alvin Straight was classic. If I remember correctly, he was nominated for an Academy Award for this film.

Farnsworth had terminal cancer when this film was made, which made his work even more compelling. Not long after the movie was released, he committed suicide.

"The Straight Story" is definitely in my top 100.
