Who would have been a better Helen?
Edited on Thu May-20-04 02:48 PM by dnvechoes
I saw Troy this weekend, and thought it was pretty good. Not great.

Anyway, the guys in the movie were I have to admit really quite hot! But Helen, played by Diane Kruger, didn't impress me - and she's supposed to be one of the most beautiful women ever - enough to sail 1,000 ships. I thought Ms. Kruger could have sailed maybe 20 ships and a couple tug-boats. She was "hot" and all, but there was *no* substance, certainly nothing astounding. I heard a right-wing commentator call her a "High school prom queen" and I agree.

So who could better have played Helen? I think the actress has to have, beyond looks, an incredible presense. Perhaps they shouldn't have even showed her at all, or have done very sparingly with Marlon Brando AN lighting or something.

Anyway, somehow I've got Sheryl Lee stuck in my head. She sizzled in Fire Walk With Me and has a very strong screen presence. Something about her calls Helen to me.

Any other thoughts?
