4. Maybe People Don't Know
David Byrne Was/IS The lead Singer For The Talking Heads - I Can See No Other Explanation For The Voting Otherwise.

6. People know.
I know the Talking Heads have reached some sort of level or reverence for some folks, but to me they are just a novelty act with a guy in a giant suit.

I'll take Bowie over some 80's college act ANY day.

As opposed to some glam act with an addict in a red mullet.

They are both equally relevant (or irrelevant, if you wish).

15. Okay, I was being deliberatively provocative, I knew that would...
...raise some hackles. I have nothing against Byrne or the Heads, but I do think they are way overrated, but not as overrated as Creed or Hootie & the Blowfish.

Besides, Bowie has transformed so many times since the Ziggy days. He looks really cool for his age still, and his music is still interesting. I loved "I'm Afraid of Americans" because I am!

As for "You may find yourself, in a beautiful house, with a beautiful wife", I'm still in the damn shotgun shack, so that one just depresses me!

10. College Act? WHOA Slow Down There
Edited on Thu May-20-04 06:26 PM by HornBuckler
The Talking Heads Were One Of The Greatest Bands Of All Time (Byrne's Lyrics Are Some Of The Most Prolific You'll Run Into - Outside Of Dylan And A Few Others) Maybe Your Only Memory Is Some 80's Videos - But They Got A Lot Deeper Than That. Try Sand In The Vaseline For Starters, You Might Just Love It.

EDIT : Fenris Has An Interesting Reply As Well - If I Was Going To Go The Fenris Way I Would Say " Then What The Hell Is Ziggy Stardust Exactly? "

But I Digress, Bowie Is Alright :)

20. Guess you missed them live.........glad I didn't...
The talking heads were great! Ever see the movie 'Stop Making Sense'?
Its a pretty good lesson on how to put on a live rock show . Fucking awesome! They were the most important band of the '80s, IMO!

But, different strokes for different folks I guess.

16. Yeah I Saw It
Question : What In God's Name Was Chick Corea Doing With The FOO Fighters?

I Was Watching It Saying To Myself "Hmmmm, The Grammies Wanted To Give Chick His Props, And This Is How They Show Him Gratitude? BY Sharing The Friggin' Stage With These Chumps?!"

Sorry - Jazz Never Gets It's Due On The Grammies

Oh Wait - Neither Does Blues/Metal/Folk/Etc...
