Florida AGAIN shows it's stupidity.
For those who don't know:

Jeb Bush has approved a "Temporary Gas Tax savings" plan that, for the summer, will lower taxes on gasoline 8 cents. The Florida politicians are doing this to allow "more tourists to visit our fine state"

Sweet Jesus!...have these idiots ever taken a math class??. I can just imagine this scenario:

Dad: Family...I sorry but our plan to go to Disney World will have to wait....with hotels and entrance fees to Disney world, Food and Gas, I figure it's going to cost us $2789.00 for the trip.

Mom: But...But honey, haven't you heard? The politicians in Florida have lowered the gas tax by 8 cents! I figure EVEN if we buy 100 gallons, we'll save 8 dollars!!!!!

Dad: What!....Well hells bells!...that's differant....little jimmy and suzie...start packing cause we're GOING TO FLORIDA!!...instead of the trip costing $2789.00 it's only $2781.00!!

Jimmy and Suzie: Dad?....you think we can get something to eat on the way there?

Mom and Dad: Now Jimmy and Suzie, we wouldn't want to blow our big savings now, would we??

Even worse, the tax lose will be made up from the general fund so the "savings" will have to come from some other program.....maybe a corporate welfare one, Huh?....Yeah....RIGHT!!

Once again, Florida shows it's absolute stupidity...

1. I'd be interested in seeing if
the prices stay lower, or if this means another 8 cents/gallon into the pocket of big oil...

2. You got that right....
The last thing Florida needs right now is a gas tax cut. How about funding the schools? Eh?

Nah... much more important to attract tourists than to support the state's residents' needs.

You know, I love the weather here... and when I moved down here a few years ago, I vowed that I would never live in a place where I had to shovel snow again. Well.... that snow is looking pretty good nowadays.

3. Jeb is a fucking moron...
I loved your scenario, too...

If a $5000 trip is actually made easier by saving $20 on gas, I'd love to smoke some of what that person's got.

4. Yep
I used to travel from MN to TX on a regular basis. Long drive. It was right as gas prices rose to 1.50 or so a gallon. As I recall it was up about 10 cents. It would cost me roughly 15$ more to make the round trip. It wasn't enough to prevent me from traveling, nor will the increase in prices this year prevent me from making a summer trip with the family. Dumb, really dumb.
