&@#% Allergies!!!! I didn't even have 'em a couple of years ago -
and now I can't f'n wakeup without my nose turning into a faucet.

It just won't stop.

And the sneezing....I used to enjoy a good sneeze...

Why did this just start happening a couple of years ago? Why is it getting worse? Is there something new floating around in the air that wasn't there before?

UGH!

Ok, I'll stop whining now.

sniff...snniiiifff

I know some here can relate.

1. Oh, I can relate alright
I've always suffered from allergies (Hayfever) and just the other day things got so bad that the area around my eyes swelled up so much that my eyes nearly closed up completely.

I love to garden but suffer terribly every time I do.
:(

2. Ugh! I hate allergies!
I get dry eyes, sneezing and stuffy nose most of the time. I never had allergies as a kid, but they say Central Texas is bad for allergies.

:-(

3. I had the same problem
I didn't develop allergies until I turned 30 and they've grown progressively worse. I used to get sinus infections all of the time and then I started developing allergy-induced asthma.

What helped me? First, I quit smoking and try to limit my exposure to second-hand smoke. Next, I went to a doctor and started aggressively treating them. I use Nasonex every day (works best for me after a hot shower in the morning when my nasal passages are open) and on days when I start feeling it, I take a Zyrtec. That's almost every day in the spring and fall. I can taper off in summer and winter.

I live in a heavily industrialized area and my doctor said it was VERY common for people to develop allergies later in life as a result. So, yes, it probably is something in the air, just takes awhile to accumulate.

I've heard that record numbers of children now have asthma, particularly in urban areas. I feel so bad for them. That is the most frightening experience when you feel like you can't breath.

So, go to the doctor and get some meds. You'll feel better. No sense in suffering.

6. OK, that explains it
My nose has been running since March and post-nasal drip has pretty much wrecked my voice.

Time to go back to the allergist.

4. I found out a few things about my allergies that may
help you.

I never had hayfever allergies until we moved to one location in Pittsburgh. This house had a beautiful view of the city and Schenley Park, but had little to block all the allergies in the park from coming in the windows. The first summer we were there, BAM! I thought I had pinkeye and a sinus infection. It was extreme hayfever.

Once we moved to our new house, I have had far fewer problems. As a matter of fact, between using Flonase (nose) and Patinol (eyes) last year was a relative breeze.

Last year I also lost 45 pounds. My allergist told me if I took off some weight, my body would not be as stressed so it wouldn't react as violently to other stressors like allergies. I though he was full of it, but in retrospect, he may have been right.

5. Boy, can I relate. It wasn't till my late 40s that I started having
allegies. Oh yeah, popping the antihistimane every morning and I have been coughing for about 10 years. Fun...

7. It's allergy survival stratragy
They don't show up until you're well into or past childbearing years, that way they get passed on to successive generations.
