I am having nightmares about the Prison Abuse in Iraq
I keep thinking about what our people have done to the Iraqi's and I can't get it out of my head and when I go to sleep I have nightmares about it.

Am I the only one on DU experiencing this?

5. Prisons run by private corporations with little or no

accountability to the very taxpayers who fund them. State governments don't care because it removes a bunch of people from the state payrolls if the employees are corporate employees.

Also, notice that even though many prisoners are black, most prisons are located in rural areas far from the urban areas. There is also poor access via public transportation which means that many family members are unable to visit their loved ones as often as they would like. This loss of family connections while in prison is also a cause of recidivism.

This is what years of Republican AND Democratic demonization and dehumanization of prisoners have sown. Just because someone is sent to prison does not mean they should be beaten. No, they don't deserve cable TV but they do deserve to be treated as human beings. After all isn't it about "correcting" bad behavior?

a few nights ago i had a terrible dream that a rottweiler was attacking me & biting my hand... the next day i saw pic of a prisoner with a soldier shoving a big black vicious dog in his face

i think seeing this stuff gets imbedded in our subconscious so it comes out in dreams---

a few months ago had a horrible dream & saw all sorts of bodies missing arms & legs & heads & 2 days later all that fallujah stuff happened (i really freaked out that time)
