Poll question: Favorite #1 hit by THE SUPREMES?
Between 1964 and '69, the Supremes had twelve #1 pop hits. Unfortunately, due to space limitations, I could only include ten songs. As such, I decided to leave out what I personally consider the group's two weakest Number Ones, "I Hear A Symphony" and "The Happening."

As always, dates indicate when a single reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

10. mmmmm baby
That's one of my faves.

There are several Supremes songs that were not #1's that love. That one and "Nothing But Heart Aces" and "Up The Ladder To The Roof".

I loves me some Supremes.

12. IT's gone from my collection now, but the BEST Supreme's medley ever
was on the flip side of Diana's 12 inch single of The Boss and began with Itchin....all the others I've heard start with Stop in the Name of Love...they aren't as good as that one.

19. Yeah, that's the one I like......
On that record Diana Ross dropped the kittenishness out of her singing
and really rocked.

2. Where Did Our Love Go? was such a ground breaker when it first came
out. I remember the first time I heard it, what i was doing, who I was with, and where we were going. It was just one of those songs that stick with you, like Good Vibrations and Hey Jude. Those three songs sort of froze a moment in time.

3. The Morse-code stacatto intro.
The best Supremes vocals ever (harmony, AND Diana actually sounded like a human being with real emotions).

The fact that I sang it on-stage with Mary Wilson.

"You Keep Me Hangin' On"

Same song. She gave me the mike and got to sing "you don't want me for yourself, so let me find somebody else .... hey hey hey!"

I love Mary Wilson.

22. It's funny that you left out "The Happening" --
I never really cared for the Supremes--just not my style of music and I'm not really into female vocalists--but the one song I liked was "The Happening."

I can hear the clanking from the inside of the auto plant in the backing arrangement.

It's hard to pick, though. Great Motown sound!
