Who else is a weather geek???
I downloaded this cool weather monitor (well, it monitors hot weather too, nyuk nyuk) from the Weather Channel website http://www.weather.com , and it rocks! It's a free download, and just be sure to check all of the boxes "no" when they try to mass market other products to you. I gave 'em my freebie email just in case. It is great though. It boots up on the desktop, and the temp is monitored in the task bar of Windows.

When there is nothing else on TV (and that is often), the good ol' Weather Channel pulls through.

I think meteorology is cool.

30. Perfect background channel
while listening to music. Although the weather disaster shows on TWC are horribly done...lots of human interest and "dramatic recreations". I want footage and scientific explanations for my unhealthy disaster addiction.

4. The absolutely best...
All-time, Big-Swinging-Richard Windows-based weather program is free. It is called "Weather Pulse". Oh, if we only had something like that for Linux. WP rocks, rocks, rocks, rocks, rocks.

6. In Fairbanks? Anyone who isn't a weather freak
isn't paying attention. 76 today. 38 tonight. Less than a month ago, so much rain that we almost flooded in town despite the massive Army Corps of Engineers flood project begun after the huge 1967 flood...

And anywhere from 40 to 65 below in winter.

NOT pay attention to the weather? Hee hee.......

Weather.com is a good site but run spybot every few days, ZW, it leaves lots of cookies. I depend a lot on the local NOAA site. And neither local TV nor the local newsrag get it right. Ever.

8. I have my cookie filter pretty high
I tried spybot once, but had more problems AFTER the download, so I gave up. I have bad shareware karma or whatever spybot is, lol.

:hi: WAY up in Fairbanks!

7. I use Weather Bug and...
...am also subscribed to a weather service that shows radar and storm tracks. To top it off, I have a weather radio in the computer room that makes obnoxious noises whenever a storm is coming.

I live in Indiana, so I think it's required here... :)

9. I love weather and astronomy
I have a program called Weather Bug on my computer that is tied in to literally thousands of weather stations all over the country. I think I'll check out Weather Pulse and if that's better I'll remove Weather Bug and install that one.

14. I downloaded Weather Pulse
It's a nice program, but I like the Bug's format better so I'll keep it as the main toy but keep Pulse running as well and click it for additional information when needed.

10. Serious Weather Geeks here
So much so that my son is now a 3rd year Meteorology Student.

For a while, he had me storm chasing with him....before he could drive...I'm just lucky to still be alive.

Weather channel is always on when in our house. On-camera types are like old friends.

uuuummmm...okay so I'm demented...so what..........

15. Me too.
We moved last year and now have a field next to our house which gives me a much better view of the sky than we had in the city. So when a storm comes, I make much better lightning bait than I used to be...

17. Cool
Our storm chasing kit consisted of:

video camera
still camera (35mm)
weather radio
5" tv with adapter for car

Whenever there was severe weather, we grabbed the kit and headed out. Since my son has been away at college, I haven't done any.

21. I'm a HUGE weather geek!
Almost went to school in Norman, OK.

My son inherited the gene and from Kindergarten to about 4th grade used to get up on Saturday morning and put on the Weather Channel instead of cartoons. He knew the names of all the meteorologists and where they went to school!

You kinda have to be up here
Between dodging tornadoes, forest fire season and the hole in the ozone layer, we keep a firm eye on the weather.

I checked this morning and decided NOT to ride my bicycle to work because it looks like probably a thunderstorm on the way home.

I still watch it; now, however, I have many other interests in addition to the weather.
