Poll question: Best British Invasion Band?
Edited on Wed Aug-20-03 10:45 PM by SweetZombieJesus
I'm not including the Stones, The Who or the Beatles in this, because they all managed to outlive and outdo all their British Invasion colleagues.

1. Good Thread!

But I've gotta give it to the Kinks. Especially for the mid-period 'Arthur' and 'Village Green' stuff.

3. I'm surprised anybody remembers The Move.
Besides me, that is. Actually, they're before my time, but I'm a big ELO fan, and my research led me to know what came before. Interesting band. I have the original 1972 version of Do Ya someplace in my LP collection.

5. ....'Goodbye Blackberry Way'....
I love The Move. (My old band used to cover 'Brontosaurus.') But I've gotta say that Cheap Trick's version of 'California Man' beats theirs to shreds!

4. I went with The Kinks
but in actuality it's such a tough call. The Kinks did remain musically active at least into the early 90's but they never had the same level of success that they did early on.

So much good music has come out of the UK in the last 40 years it's actually kinda scary.

16. Ok, for some reason it won't let me edit it now
But just pretend "The Searchers" is Yardbirds from now on. I should just stop making these polls if I can't remember obvious ones like that.

18. Yes, but as I said in the first post...
...they managed to transcend the whole British Invasion thing and go on to be, well, the best band ever, so I thought it would be pretty unfair to put them up against bands like The Pretty Things and The Zombies.

I just recently got into them, and I'm nuts about them.
