Anybody else here on Acid Planet?
If so, I'd like to hear your stuff.
For the uninitiated, Acid is a software program that lets you create music using loops, among other things.

3. Used to have some cool loops................
Edited on Sun May-23-04 11:55 AM by foamdad
I put together, but I lost them when my old compy went kaput. I have downloaded it again with some loops. I haven't really done much yet. I really want to get a little mixing board so I can use my copy of Cubase to run my Strat into my soundcard.

I think ACID is pretty limited as far as production, but it makes a cool practice tool. More fun than any metronome I've ever used.

7. I've been using Apple's GarageBand
While a consumer app, it's pretty damned powerful. I've created full multi-track songs with full real-time effects, amp modeling and soft synths. Considering it cost $20 (upgrade, now free with new Macs), I'd say it's a true killer app.

9. When the time comes, consider switching. I did.
You can get a pretty powerful eMac for under a grand these days (remember, that includes a flat-screen CRT). I found no issues switching from PC to Mac, and I wouldn't trade back if you paid me. Mac's OSX "Panther" is a gem of an operating system. Plus, they're just cool. Not to mention that Steve Jobs is advising John Kerry and Al Gore is on their board. :)

Be warned, though; if you want to use GarageBand, don't try to install it on an older Mac. In its current incarnation, it's still a pretty mighty resource hog and will need at least a 1GHz G4 processor, a fast(ish) hard drive and at least 512MB of RAM.
