1. Progressive music or progressive politics?
Either way, I always liked The Fall...

3. LOL, they are seperate
Progressive music cannot coincide with Punk music at all. Progressive music is too intricate to play at the speeds bands link NOFX played.

Although, I don't doubt Mike Portney could play his drum parts for Dream Theatre that fast, the guy is amazin.

Besides, I did mean Progressive in the political sense, forgot about that.

4. Consolidated ok, then?
ex-roomie of mine was in the band....remember "Typical Men Think With Their Dick"?

Ok, more hip-hop than punk, but they went more guitar later on, and lost their audience...

5. what year was it?
I'm extremely interesting in the blending of hip-hop and any type of music. Limp Bizkit was dubbed the originators of that stuff, but if you look back a band called Orange 9mm was doing it in the early 90's (and it sounded good too, lol, but rap was also better back then as well).

12. Early 90s....
Their prime...they did some great stuff, about as left as can be, they used to have an open mike at the end of their shows and recorded snippets for excerpts on their following cds...I remember something like "Meat is good, and if you don't like meat then get out of America"....also..."I don't care what you say...You're going to Hell...I'm not!"....these were just audience reactions...

8. Oi Polloi
See that whaling vessel sinking into brine?
Taken out by a limpet mine

See those trees standing so tall?
They've been spiked so they won't fall

See that excavator going up in smoke?
Sugar in the petrol tank - that's no joke

Ecosabotage in the dead of night
like mushrooms break through concrete in the moonlight

19. SOCIAL DISTORTION
At a social d show I went to last year someone was booing the lead singer mike ness for his bashing on bush. Mike Ness called the guy up to the stage and gave him the microphone. The guy said that if Mike talked bad about Bush again he would "light him up." Mike Ness proceeded to drop kick the guy from the stage and beat the shit out of him. The Orange County crowd went wild. Hell yes. Later another guy started booing and Mike threw 5 bucks at the guy and told the security guards to take the conservative idiot out but let him have the money for the 1/4 of the show he was to miss. Then Ness chucked the setlist off the stage and let in with a classic "Let's do this mother fucker."

I'm not sure how progressive they are on social issues, but they are very pro-union.

They have covered a few Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger worker's songs

Also:

-The Suicide Machines

-Internatonal Noise Conspiracy

months ago and said he was so friendly and cool. The show was in Lawrence, KS -- looked it up on her site. It was a treat for them to meet someone they'd admired for years.

Bingo! I'm Amber Valentine's mother, ask me anything! :7

But don't tell EVERYBODY, OK? If they read this thread, they'll find out.

Have you seen Jucifer live or just heard their albums?

26. HMM
my 'editing period' has ended, according to DU. I was hoping to compile a list for the public.

My general intent was to prove that punk is to the current, as jam bands and rock bands were to the 60's... guess its done

34. Not to mention an idiot who along with Sid Vicious are the two worst punk
"icons" I've ever seen. If being a smacked-out moron is punk, count me out. I'd much rather look to Joey Ramone, Jello Biafra, Joe Strummer, John Doe, and Richard Hell as punk icons than two shit for brains no talents whose only power was being "shocking".

35. Yeah...
I saw Allin in Cincinnati years ago...at one point he flung the mikestand into the crowd, hitting my friend Dan in the face. Then he proceeded to taunt him because he was bleeding, stumbled around awhile, and fell off the stage. Too bad it was only inches from the ground. We left shortly thereafter, but friends told me that he later pulled down his pants and took a crap at the back of the stage. (Some say he did, some say he didn't, I'm glad I left regardless.) :eyes:

In the spirit of this thread, however, I would add the Circle Jerks if for no other song than "Killing for Jesus" which is to this day in my top 10 favourite punk songs ever. :D

Amazing band. That they did a song setting of the preamble to the Declaration of Independence is the least of their achievements. Only released two albums, unfortunately, plus a 12" single and I think a Peel Sessions.
