And now, Matcom's Phoenix Rant
Ok. First, let me apologize to any DUers living in Phoenix (not because i don't wish to offend, rather SOMEBODY has to apologize to you for making you move/live there.) :D

My first time to your "lovely" city (if you like desert dirt and dust) was last week. I had never been and am always looking forward to seeing new places.

As the plane broke through the clouds, i had an opportunity to look out the window. WOW that's a lot of dirt i thought. Dirt. Look, i realize that you all live in a desert but jeebus, there must be SOME way to plant a tree or two no? I was looking for an attractive landmark of some kind. SOMETHING! no luck (and the Cardinal's stadium doesn't count y'all.

Now, I realize that this is only May. where I come from that means SPRING (cool nights, warmer days, etc...)

My step-son's graduation ceremony started at 7:30 pm. of course, I had to wear a tie, long sleaved shirt etc.. As we pulled into the parking lot, i looked at the car thermometer. 102 degrees. let me state that again - 102 DEGREES

oh, Matcom but it is a DRY HEAT. yeah? SO IS MY F*CKING OVEN but you don't see me spending time in THERE do you?

as i looked over the lovely Tempe from my hotel room window i was just amazed at the lovely.....um.... dirt. oh and rocks. you DO have some attractive rocks.

Traffic. look people. if you are going to have a sprawling city, could you at LEAST build more than 1 or 2 major roadways? i thought Boston BIG DIG traffic was bad but at least WE have an excuse! and that surface street that cuts through your fair city (diagonally - can't remember the name) doesn't count. 5,000 traffic lights don't make a major road.

anyhoo, i have now seen Phoenix (granted was only there 3 days but i think i have seen enough) and whoever 'discovered' that valley of DIRT and thought, "Wow, wouldn't THIS be a great place to live!" frankly, should have been SHOT on the very spot.

:loveya: our Phoenix DUers but DAMN to i feel sorry for you.

</rant>

*putting on flame retardent suit* :D

3. PHX is HELL
In every sense of the word. Hot, conservative, crime-ridden, crowded (just became the 5th largest city in the U.S., go figure), ugly, and just plain nasty.

We northern Zonies don't want a damn thing to do with Phoenix, although we're glad we have a Dem in the governor's mansion that doesn't take shit from the Repukes... It's a different state once you go north, but I probably shouldn't post that here because then everyone will know. Hint: it was only in the low 70's here when you were roasting your buttcrack down there. Plus, we have trees and green everywhere.

Phoenix sucks. No offense will be taken here.

Welcome back, Asshole! :D Glad you survived the trip west.

9. I lived in Phoenix.
I lasted a year. May 15; 115 degrees; huddled under the swamp cooler with a wet towel around me; I had to get out of there.

15. 102 is cool for Phoenix
You should try Aug... Well on second thought don't
unless you are going to spend the entire time in a
swimming pool .

Northern AZ is much prettier forests of Pine trees and everying.
It snows and stuff up there , but still gets dreadfully
hot in the summer .

If you go to phoenix may I suggest going in Febuary
when it's 80 degrees .. :hi:

I think the desert is beautiful to visit , but I don't
think I could live there . I love my rolling green or
Golden hills full of Oak trees here in California .

17. How did you like all the junk cars near the airport?
Two Februaries ago I was flying back from L.A. (when we got engaged) and for miles going into the airport there was nothing but junkyards and beat up rusty cars and trucks.

I didn't even get off the plane so that is the extent of my Phoenix experience but I must say the Northern part of Az is pretty nice.

BTW-The fine people of Arizona rejected observing Martin Luther King Jr. day at least twice.........until the realized the NFL wouldn't play a Super Bowl in any state that didn't recognize MLK day. *POOF* it was put back on the ballot and it passed.

"dry heat" my ass-they said the same thing in Vegas 97 degrees is 97 degrees.
