I can understand "No Sex Threads"

This is supposed to be a quasi political site, after all.
But as a newbie, I don't have the background info. How bad was it? No salacious details, please. Why did DU not set up a sex threads room?
I have no idea, just asking.

and one person's dinner table conversation is another person's obscenity. It was becoming unmanageable. Skinner finally said there's plenty of places to discuss this stuff on the Internet, but this isn't one of them.

I did get one thread locked for being too salacious, but I knew I was tempting fate.
