I wish I had my camera today
Driving home, I saw this owl hover in a position with its talons down. For several seconds it just flapped its wings in such a way that it could just hover as it looked down. It then SWOOPED down into the grass to pick up a rat.

K-E-W-L !

1. a billion years ago
About a billion years ago, I got to ride horses out on an old man's farm. And like you, I saw one of the neatest things, a hawk swooped down and grabbed a gopher who had stuck his head out of his hole.

OK, sounds a little gross, but really, it was like watching a perfectly executed high dive. It was the very definition of "grace". Just poof! and the hawk was on his way with his Happy Meal. ;)
