1. Almost ALL of their products kick ass!
I absolutely LOVE that store and I hope that soon they'll go completely nationwide. They still have a lot of metro areas with no stores but they're working on it.

7. not likely: TJ is owned by Aldi
A(actually two) German discounter chain, still a family enterprise.

9. Didn't know that, but...
I know that the the Aldi's around here pay well for a grocery store, and Trader Joe's pays its people VERY well.

Evidence that you actually can run a good company profitably without screwing your employees.

Trader Joe's operates 200 stores in 17 states. The company is a division of Aldi Group, based in Essen, Germany, a privately held company owned by brothers Karl and Theo Albrecht. The Aldi Group is also parent of Aldi supermarkets, which are discount grocers.

I'd like to see TJ in Germany though - it would only be fair, as you already have Aldi. :hi:

Edit: a good article about the Aldi Group:

5. They have a new vegetarian ratatouille provencale
that goes wonderfully over mashed potatoes. Other than a little cheese sprinkled on the top it's an almost completely vegan dish.
