Liberal cats responsible for starting house fire.
http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/national/AP-Fiery-Felines.html

LIBERAL, Kan. (AP) -- While their owner was away, two cats did play -- with fire. Liberal Fire Department investigators said a pair of cats started a fire inside a small southwest Kansas home by jumping onto a stove. Apparently, one of the cats ignited a burner by stepping on a push button.

(snip)

The cats survived the fire and were being treated at an animal hospital until the owner could pick them up.

:P

2. I guess that's next on the agenda
I awoke in the middle of the night (which is one reason I'm up and posting here) to my two cats trying to make a break for it. One cat had manipulated the front door (very heavy door) open. The other was ready to head out the door. The outside screen door wasn't latched, so had I not awakened, I would have been hunting down two cats the next day.

4. Hah! I can top that!
I have a big black polydactel cat with an opposable thumb! He can manipulate ANYTHING including doorhandles, but my favorite heist was when he had the racoons who visit my backyard bust him out and played together with him and my other cat. Their noise woke me up and I had to get my husband to get the cats, in as Mama Racoon was going to attack us for yelling and making perceived threatening gestures to the cat. She came to his defense when he hissed at us. I truly think the racoons think he is one of them because of his "hands".The racoons and the cat regularly place their paws together on opposite sides of my frech doors. It is as if they are comparing"hands"!

5. Cool cat. Now we know that, if they had opposable digits...
...cats would probably be running the world.

8. that is an amazing story!
I think that could happen here. I regularly see raccoon prints on the outside of my white house. They are placed under the window sills outside which makes me think the raccoon is looking inside the window.

I used to store dry kitty food in the entryway until the raccoons figured it out and opened the door to help themselves. So I put it in the kitchen pantry. A couple nights after I found the new spot for the dry kitty food, I was reading at about 3 a.m. (As a matter of fact, I was reading a thriller.) There was a knock at the door.

I was petrified but I looked out the side window to see who was knocking on my door at that time of the night. I saw no one.

The knocking persisted. I was convinced that it was my husband playing a joke or maybe just the wind. Imagine my surprise when I flung open the door and saw a little raccoon looking very bandit-like at the door.

He wanted to know where "his" food was!

6. Don't let the freepers know!
They just might start murdering cats because freepers think they're liberal.

9. Just like during the plague years....
Where they executed cats because they were associated with witchcraft.
