Hey Laaaaadies! Would you call this a romantic getaway?

Imagine getting away from it all by crossing a footbridge to an island Victorian cottage on a small lake. This guesthouse in Pungoteague is no mirage. Pretty Byrd Cottage on Evergreen Farm, an 18th century estate on the Chesapeake Bay, is a unique oasis which combines the best of today's conveniences with the charm of Victorian decor.

Breakfast at Pretty Byrd Cottage is a "do it yourself" affair. A stocked refrigerator allows guests to leisurely prepare their own breakfast.

You may enjoy your breakfast in the kitchen, on the veranda off the bedroom or on the Victorian back porch.

The cottage is available for $175.00 - $195.00 per night.

4. My wife said she would actually consider going over the Bay Bridge tunnel
a 20 minute ride over low bridges and several tunnels. She doesn't have that much of a problem with the tunnels but low bridges are only one step below spiders on the phobia chart (the only two on the chart truth be told).

Now if we can work it out with her.......................

6. I drank my first legal alcoholic beverage at a rest stop on that bridge
This was back when virginia was grandfathering in the new 21 year age limit for alcohol. I was 20 at the time and legal to drink in Virginia. Oddly enough they sold beer at a rest stop on that bridge.

18. No I think the owner comes by
to restock the fridge and I think it has a dishwasher. Still I don't mind doing a little clean up in a place like that...$200 a night what a deal!

A coworker of mine went last week and said it was BETTER than the pictures show.

31. Cute and quaint......but a Victorian setting wouldn't "light my fire".
Edited on Tue May-25-04 09:01 AM by Dover
Unless by Romance you mean a sweet kind of nostalgia.
Victorian makes me think of tight corsettes, an American baroque with tassles and overstuffed...stuff, and a general prudishness that cumulatively amounts to a stifling feeling.

For myself, an exotic setting on some far flung beach or a bit more rustic setting near a natural hot springs, etc. would do it for me.

36. Yeah, and those underpants of yours just aren't quite vintage....
..and by vintage I'm not talking about days worn before changing (LOL!)

When you trade those in for 1900 vintage, don't forget to buy the male garter to hold up your socks. That will really turn her on!

My wife's spider issues could come into play there. I am sure it is very clean but living in a cave would mean very little sleep for her............on the other hand
