Phish breaking up! Really!
At least according to this message from Trey:

Last Friday night, I got together with Mike, Page and Fish to talk
openly about the strong feelings I've been having that Phish has run its course and that we should end it now while it's still on a high note. Once we started talking, it quickly became apparent that the other guys' feelings, while not all the same as mine, were similar in many ways -- most importantly, that we all love and respect Phish and the Phish audience far too much to stand by and allow it to drag on beyond the point of vibrancy and health. We don't want to become caricatures of ourselves, or worse yet, a nostalgia act. By the end of the meeting, we realized that after almost twenty-one years together we were faced with the opportunity to graciously step away in unison, as a group, united in our friendship and our feelings of gratitude.

So Coventry will be the final Phish show. We are proud and thrilled
that it will be in our home state of Vermont. We're also excited for the June and August shows, our last tour together. For the sake of clarity, I should say that this is not like the hiatus, which was our last attempt to revitalize ourselves. We're done. It's been an amazing and incredible journey. We thank you all for the love and support that you've shown us.

6. I was going to ask "How many bands has he been in?"
But I see that guesting is all that is required.

2. What the heck is a "phish"?
Is that a group or something?

(I always thought it was when a phony website tries to defraud you by stealing your account information).

Widespread Panic just plain SUCKS!!!

I hate that free-form, jam-till-the-acid-wears-off stuff... sorry.

8. I wonder if this break-up will go on forever without really doing much
Like their songs. Ooo, smack!

Nah, I don't mind Phish. It's the most tolerable of the current crop of jam bands.

9. phish should have called it quits after Hoist

everything after that has been a downward slide. Billy Breathes started it. I don't know what caused it, but after the mid-90s they ran out of ideas. And the influx of psuedo-deadheads to their shows after garcia died really changed the mood from one of a community of fans to a bunch of fratboys looking for easy drugs

i'll always treasure the first 4 or 5 albums, though

10. You people suck
Seriously, if you don't like the band, fine. Don't listen. But for Christ's sake, show a little respect for the people who do.

Assholes.

11. I saw Phish for the first time in 1986.
I have been a fan since. Some of their shows are phenomenal; some are trainwrecks. That happens when you have the guts to lay it on the line every night. Improvisation ain't always easy. I'll take any number of jam bands over the endless recycling of three chord didies that you hear on the radio these days.
