Take this Religion Test
Edited on Tue May-25-04 05:47 PM by JohnLocke
Belief-O-Matic

Your Results:
The top score on the list below represents the faith that Belief-O-Matic, in its less than infinite wisdom, thinks most closely matches your beliefs. However, even a score of 100% does not mean that your views are all shared by this faith, or vice versa.
Belief-O-Matic then lists another 26 faiths in order of how much they have in common with your professed beliefs. The higher a faith appears on this list, the more closely it aligns with your thinking.

I'm a Reform Jew, and the test was right!

1. Reform Judaism (100%)
2. Liberal Quakers (98%)

3. Unitarian Universalism (90%)

77. Patterns. Interesting.
I have a feeling that most of us here will get Secular Humanism, just as I did. I must say that it is pretty accurate in its choices though (Although it begs to be pointed out that if I was religious I'd probably be Catholic, which I managed a 3% for. I guess religion is a bit of a stretch for me).

Another correct analysis. I was raised in a liberal protestant home. I married a reform Jew. I wonder how our son would do if he were old enough to take the test.

I AM a liberal Christian protestant (United Church of Christ). I also consider the UU and Quakers to be my closest religious kin, and find a lot that is compelling in Judaism and Buddhism. I've ofted said that if it weren't for the presence of Jesus (present to me, that is), I'd prefer being Jewish. I'm sad Taoist came in at 7, though; I'd rather have seen it in the top 5.

It is comforting to know that I have more in common in Hinduism, all forms of Judaism, Islam, and even nontheism, than I do with conservative Christians. Woo hoo!!

Strangely, a few years ago, we both decided (myself from a Catholic and Methodist upbringing and my husband from a Catholic upbringing) to permanently convert to being Methodists. At the time, this church was quite liberal/progressive and we were pretty happy overall. Now, there's another minister who's rather conservative with an increasingly conservative congregation, neither of our spiritual beliefs fit with it. We though about moving to Unitarianism back then, but I suppose the conformist in me wasn't quite ready for that yet. Now I am and we will start in September probably. I need more for my spiritual self than to perpetually feel like I'm only going through the motions feeling nothing. This year I taught Sunday School and that's how I felt the whole year- like a fraud going through the motions. Anyhow, interesting, confirming kind of test. I needed this. :)

I was on the opposite spectrum. After my experience in a Seminary, I left religion behind. Recently, I was just looking for something to motivate me, mentally and spiritually. My UU congregation has done that for me.

80. Of course...
I figured I'd score as a Unitarian Universalist. Kinda funny to see Catholicism second to last, what with all 12 years of Catholic school... Though they probably shoulda split the Catholics into two (liberal and conservative) wings. After all, we got plenty of liberal Catholics here at DU; and those fuckfaces in Colorado (talkin' about the bishop, not you guys ;)) are trying theor best to create a REAL schism right here in the U.S.A.

Which is mostly what I am, although I also sometimes practice wicca, too.

I'm curious about the Quakers, however, and don't have much knowledge of them.

88. My top ten this time.
1. Neo-Pagan (100%)
2. Hinduism (97%)
3. Mahayana Buddhism (94%)
4. New Age (84%)
5. Unitarian Universalism (77%)
6. Jainism (74%)
7. Liberal Quakers (70%)
8. Sikhism (66%)
9. Taoism (64%)
10. Theravada Buddhism (61%)

I've taken this several times before; my top ten seem to slip around in the order they are presented, but stay generally the same.

I don't know much about several of the faiths listed, including Hinduism, which always shows up high in the list!

How did the Belief-O-Matic do? Discuss your results on our message boards.
