When I spent a week there a few summers ago, damn near every radio station blasted nothing but country!

Being a Mainiac and all. But Newfoundland....man, life doesn't get much desolate then there. PEI is pretty cool too.....great place to bike, only place I know where plants and birds are the major route markers.

I fear it won't be the coolest much longer, though, if Campbell isn't stopped soon. It'll become another Alberta!! Though Alberta's not so bad as long as you know where to go.

I am puzzled about Sask's strong showing. Maybe all those Murricans like the funny name.

I mean real rednecks too...... racist, homophobic,....and they hate guys like HEyHEY (cityboys) ha! Just cause they've never seen a decent suit.

You often can't tell who the rednecks are, they frequently don't have any sort of "look," so I am very cautious about starting, or even participating in, political discussions. Except in my own house, we all think pretty well alike. For example, we often had dinner and bridge evenings with another couple a few years ago, never talked about politics until one time he started spewing forth about Preston Manning. I sort of ignored it, but I must have said something to piss him off, because we haven't heard from them since. Screw it, they couldn't cook worth a damn anyway, and he was waaayyyy too competitive at the card table. Don't miss him, the stupid redneck.

Well, anyway, if you can stand the politics, Calgary's not so bad, and it's easy to get away to the mountains when you get a little tired of the place, I can be there in less that 30 min.

The really funny thing is that arch-conservative Calgary keeps on electing Liberals as Mayor:

I think the Canadian DUers will agree with me when I say some reside in Red Deer.

We yanks do have our moments though....

But when you can go from the Okanagan Valley (think Arizona with trees and water) to Vancouver Island within a day's drive, what's not to like?

Actually, I was trying to see more of the province last summer, but those goddamned forest fires kept me from going any farther north past Kamloops.

Edit: I should clarify. We had a little misunderstanding over the meaning of the term "brake check". I didn't think it took quite so long.

That's where I'm from. Born and raised in Edmonton. Lots of liberals up in Edmonton (due to the high number of blue-collar workers).

Alberta also has Banff, Jasper, the badlands, and the Vegreville egg.
