I mentioned recently, while replying to someone in another post, that I had recently had the worst day of my professional life. It was a week and a half ago. It was just AWFUL. I was basically ambushed in a meeting... yelled at, cursed at, and belittled by a lazy SOB who just didn't like the fact that a woman would actually call him on his behavior (I am basing that on his general attitude towards myself and other female coworkers ever since he joined our office). I was sick and tired of picking up his slack. No managers were at this meeting, or it wouldn't have happened. The general tone of my current office has gone dramatically downhill recently, as people I liked and respected transferred out or got jobs elsewhere, and were replaced by people who just don't seem to understand the concept of teamwork... or actually even the concept of WORK.
Anyway, flashback to 2 months ago... a position came avaiable at another office MUCH closer to my home, and I interviewed for it. It is also an office where a close friend works, and where I know the manager, and she is wonderful! The person I would have replaced was to retire, but then decided to put it off until his house sold, so I had been in limbo almost two months.
Well, HALLELUJIA!!! The offer came today and I start on June 7th!!! I am soooooooooooo relieved to be out of that disfunctional office, with constant bickering, backstabbing, and gossiping. But even better, I am cutting my daily roundtrip commute from two hours and 20 minutes to about 40 minutes total!!! and I'll be saving about $125 a month in gas too!!! It's a lateral move, but I am so happy about it!
During the 2 weeks around the time that the meeting from HELL took place, I also had to deal with the death of a friend of the family, and really missing my mom on Mother's Day. She's been gone over three years now, but lately, it's just been harder. Also, all the bad news, especially the Berg incident, was just really freaking me out. I had nightmares about Berg. So, basically, I have been pretty down lately, and it's just really nice to have some good news. I just needed to share:-) Thanks for being my diversion throughout my stressful times, and for being somewhere that I can go to share good times and bad!
Drinks are on me!!!!
