IMDB Worst 100 movies: Which is the worst one you've seen
Edited on Thu May-27-04 09:26 AM by LynneSin
IMDB, otherwise known as Internet Movie Database, has a complete list of all movies ever filmed (well legit ones anyways). And they all have ratings based on folks like us rating the movie between 0 (the worst) - 10 (the best).

List of the 100 worst movies from IMDB

On that list - which is the WORST movie you have actually seen?? Here are the top 20 for your viewing:

Rank Title

  1. 'Manos' the Hands of Fate (1966) 1.6 (5937 votes)
  2. Future War (1997) 1.6 (1015 votes)
  3. You Got Served (2004) 1.6 (2858 votes)
  4. Night Train to Mundo Fine (1966) 1.6 (777 votes)
  5. Space Mutiny (1988) 1.7 (1347 votes)
  6. Eegah (1962) 1.7 (890 votes)
  7. From Justin to Kelly (2003) 1.7 (4567 votes)
  8. Backyard Dogs (2000) 1.7 (1032 votes)
  9. Hobgoblins (1987) 1.8 (1631 votes)
  10. Troll 2 (1990) 1.8 (1391 votes)
  11. Santa with Muscles (1996) 1.8 (2080 votes)
  12. Going Overboard (1989) 1.9 (969 votes)
  13. Uomo puma, L' (1980) 2.0 (700 votes)
  14. Werewolf (1996) 2.0 (804 votes)
  15. Gigli (2003) 2.0 (8106 votes)

  17. Glitter (2001) 2.1 (4017 votes)
  18. Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie (1997) 2.1 (903 votes)
  19. Police Academy: Mission to Moscow (1994) 2.2 (4321 votes)
  20. Kazaam (1996) 2.2 (2623 votes)

<<<<more>>>> if you click on the above list!

My worst would have to be #17 Glitter with Mariah Carey. But I saw that for free on HBO. In fact, I would have to go to #99 Sgt. Pepper to find the only movie on that list that I've actually seen in the movie theater (and I kinda liked it too).

What's the worst you have seen?

2. 'Manos' The Hands of Fate & Eegah!
Edited on Thu May-27-04 09:20 AM by flamingyouth
Both are putridly unwatchable. Yet, yes, I've seen both.:eyes:

(On edit: That's only out of the Top 20. I'm sure I'd find more if I went through the whole list. I've seen a LOT of bad movies)

Manos: The Hands of Fate---it was so awful even MST3K couldn't make it enjoyable
I have also seen Eegah and Glitter. I may have seen Police Academy--Mission to Moscow. I have seen most of the Police Academy 'movies'.

4. I know Manos and Puma Man were MSTied, and suspect that others were, too
Edited on Thu May-27-04 09:31 AM by undisclosedlocation
Don't know if this counts, though. More on edit after I've looked at the entire 100; I saw Sgt Pepper's in a theater too, so I already know it won't be a shutout.
Edit: I sort of saw Plan 9 in a theater (college auditorium kind of deal); otherwise I've only seen the ones ridiculed on MST3K, plus Frampton & the Bee Gees already mentioned.

17. Those of us who were kids at the time LOVED Sgt. Peppers.
Older folks who went in expecting the beatles were bummed because it was so unlike the vision of the album. Kids went in with open minds and loved it.

It's still a sentimental favorite to me.

15. Lots of MSTK'd ones.
I saw Manos, Mundo Fine (aka Red Zone Cuba), Space Mutiny and Hobgoblins that way.

I guess this means PLAN 9 has lost its coveted status...

but the worst I've seen is Boys and Girls with Freddie Prinze Jr. From the previews I thought it would be funny like American Pie. But it was horrible.

Santa Claus Conquers the Martians (with Pia Zadora!!! I have the 45 theme to this...Hooray for Santy Claus!!!)

BAttlefield Earth
Rollerball
Tarzan the Ape Man
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (See above)
Glen or Glenda
Pokemon (See Above)

What about Girl, Interrupted? You've Got Mail? Don't Tell Her it's Me? The Perfect Storm?

Yes, they were all competently directed, unlike Ed Wood's films or Manos. But they all SUUUUUCCCKKEDD!!!!

13. #47 - John Derek's "Tarzan, the Ape Man"
Bo Derek, Richard Harris and Miles O'Keefe as the Ape Man.

I remember taking my fiance, now my wife to the drive-in in my brother's car since, at the time, I was an inner-city dweller and didn't own a car.

It was really a matter of just wanting to drive out to the 'burbs and hang-out at the drive-in.

I've only seen one other of the Top 100...."Caddyshack II".

was Ilsa, She-Wolf of the SS (The Ann Coulter Story)

from this list I've seen:

'Manos' the Hands of Fate
Eegah
Troll 2

I'm proud to say that I haven't seen any of the movies listed in the theater, though I've seen quite a few on tv, video, or MST3k...

Jaws the Revenge, Jaws 3D, Stop or my Mom Will Shoot, Speed 2, Highlander II, Ecks vs. Sever, Plan 9 from Outer Space, Sgt. Peppers and On Deadly Ground.

Stop or my Mom Will Shoot was actually pretty funny, and On Deadly Ground had some decent action scenes, but the only one I liked was Ecks vs. Sever. The ones I haven't mentioned in this paragraph were intolerable (especially Sgt. Pepper - sorry, Lynne :( ).

22. "Crying Game" and "The Piano."
Sorry, I hated them absolutely. They were painful to watch.

I'm not even biased against "bad movies," so long as they have something to offer. FOr instance, I enjoyed parts of "Xanadu," if only to see Olivia Newton-John almost falling over repeatedly while roller skating.

28. OK. Grease II.
This one is a stinker. There's no way a sequel should have been made. "Honey," however, shouldn't have been on the list. It's OK as far as the dance-genre movies go, though there is no plot--all visual.

Puerile, predictable plot, smarmy saccarhine fake sentiment.

My personal two nominations for the worst movies I've ever seen are The Piano and a British version of As You Like It that took place in a junkyard.

26. Not as many as I thought
I've seen 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 9, 14, 16, 21, 22, 35, 37, 41, 60, 71, 76, 84, and 90. Most of them were on Mystery Science Theater 3000, and I love that show so I've seen some of them many times since I have the tapes. :)

Some I watched because my mom had taped them for me when I was in college, and she thought I would like them (I taught mom how to program a VCR one year, and she started taping for everyone - cousins, grandkids, hair dresser - I created a monster). Others I watched because I was interested in the subject matter and wanted to see how poorly it was done like 1991's "Captain America." Oh, God, was that awful. The made for TV movies of Captain America in the 1970s (where the son of Captain America was given the serum to become super) were superior to that.

The hero in 'Space Mutiny,' which was mentioned earlier, was the guy who played Captain America in the 1970s movies by the way.

31. House of the Dead=GOD-AWFUL MOVIE
I'm pleased to see it made the list. It masquerades as a possibly cool zombie flick, but it is actually more like Saved By The Bell: Zombies Attack! with a dash of the Matrix very badly incorporated in.

Almost every weekend for the past 3 years, mr. cedahlia and I have gotten together with our Movie Night crew to watch movies (usually horror movies.) House of the Dead would definitely be voted worst Movie Night movie EVER! And we've seen some terrible horror movies, too.

Stay far away from that one!

Yeah, that was pretty bad.

But, Legion of the Dead is worse.

One of the worst movies ever. If it's not on the list (I haven't checked the full list at imdb) it darn well should be.

It's like a crappy amateur's attempt to remake Tarantino's From Dusk 'Til Dawn.

The best thing we could think of to say about it was that the color balance was ok.

Edited on Thu May-27-04 12:18 PM by VelmaD
*confused look*

That was without a doubt the WORST movie I've ever seen in the theater. There are plot holes you could drive a fleet of semi trucks through. And worst of all...it was a sequel to a movie I really really love...somehow that makes it even worse, that disparity between how good the original was and how much the sequel SUCKED ASS.

There should have been only one.

38. I've seen three of them
but two of them, I consider camp classics, not actually bad movies - Glen or Glenda and Plan 9 From Outer Space. The one legitimately bad movie on the list that I've seen is <shudder> Caddyshack II. What a waste of celluloid!

Still, there's a lot of big-budget major releases that I think are worse than several of these. Independence Day and Forrest Gump come immediately to mind. BARF!
