Anyone on the weight watchers diet?
I joined thru work in Mid April and after six weeks I've lost 17 pounds and feel great--the best feeling is when you are on a diet and people notice you are losing weight.

It is on a points system and I get weighed once a week. It fluctuates I've found. One week I've lost 1.8 pounds the next week .5 pounds and then one week out of the blue--5.2 pounds--though I prefer to lose it in more modest amounts.

You pretty much can eat what you want as long as you don't exceed your points which in my case was 26 points per day. You also get flex points--35 flex points per week, you can use some of them every day or save up if you are going to a party or out to dinner on the weekend. You can also earn points thru exercise. For instance, an hour of vigorous walking earns you 4 points. An hour of tennis about 3-4 points and so on.

I live in town and walk back and forth to work about 2.5 miles (5 miles round-trip) so it is a good way to exercise and earn bonus points.

I also like this diet because I don't think I could give up some of the things you have to do without on Atkins.

Anyway I've had good results so far--with another 23 pounds to reach my goal.

1. My wife & I started this week
I love it. Just as you said, you don't have to give up anything, just watch what you eat & portion out. Me, I'm so big I had to weigh myself on the freight scale here at work. :(
Congratulations on your loss!

I did it back when I was 17 and I lost 60 pounds and kept most of it off for 7-8 years.

I'm now back on 15 years later and I like the diet. I like that I don't have to give up carbs -- or really anything. It's about portion control, so if you want to eat something bad, you can compensate in other areas.

I've lost 16 pounds since the end of January, about a pound a week.

Edited to add my congratulations to you! :)

3. Yes
I was able to lose 35 pouds on the program.

I agree with your statement here:

"I also like this diet because I don't think I could give up some of the things you have to do without on Atkins."

That's one of the biggest advantages of the program, IMO.

5. WW Onliner here!
I signed up with their online program, and I love it! I've been on it for almost 5 weeks, and I've lost 10 pounds so far. I too have about 20 more to go, but I plan to be a WW Lifer in order to keep the weight off for the long haul.

I'm very stubborn, and had never been on a diet before, because I refused to give up stuff I really enjoyed. I love too many foods too much to give anything up (be it carbs like pasta, yummy full fat cheeses, and of course, chocolate) but WW allows you to eat anything you want, just in a more responsible, structured way. That's all I really needed was some structure. I don't feel deprived at all, which I think might just be the magic secret to sticking to a sensible diet in the long run. It is possible to eat very healthy and still continue to everything you love...yay!

I'd highly recommend the online program for those who don't want to, or are too busy, to go to meetings. They have a huge database of foods and their point values for you to plan your meals with online. It's really great...for those interested, check it out here:
