No disparagement meant to New Order, either, they were great. But Joy Division is classic.

6. Yep.
New Order does have a lot of good stuff. The New Order Peel Sessions rule. But Joy Division is just pure gold through and through.

Even the best New Order tunes were JD holdovers ("Ceremony," for one). Bernard Sumner's lyrics are laughably bad.

it's all about who you were with & what was happening when you were listening to the tunes-- this is an emotional response, not a strictly critical one...
