Anyone who thinks positive thinking works
is an idiot.

Today was my first day of school. I have lived in abject poverty for the last two years. Today, I finally started night school and I was feeling really good about myself. I had a very positive attitude as I left the house today...

Half way to school my car totally crapped out and I didn't even make it in...

From now on I'm going to have a negative attitude and if anyone tells me to be more positive I'm going to tell them to SUCK IT.

2. I'm sorry.
It is tough. Today was not my finest. Things have been frustrating for a lot of people. I will admit that I have a hard time thinking positively too. I hope things go better for you.

5. I feel your pain
Edited on Fri May-28-04 02:14 AM by Sirveri
I've been fucked over in the job market since 2/02... Tryed going back to school, and unemployment decided to cut me off. Fucking bastards. Now my vehicle has suffered so much stress due to neglect it's almost ready to break down. I've got a cracked radiator and am in desperate need of new brakes. Yet I'm living pay check to paycheck, or at least I was before I lost this job.

Oh, and I had to drop out of school because of unemployment.

6. That's terrible.
Just out of curiosity, couldn't you get financial aid to finish school. This needs to stop. People have been displaced in the workforce. Many taking jobs that they don't have the aptitude for because there seem to be no alternatives. Bush has got to go.

8. I tried community college
Aparently earning 13,500 last year makes it so that I'm not eligable for the Board of Governors waiver. Meaning I get to pay all my fees by myself. Despite the fact that I the only way I could come in under that cap is to live with my parents, at which point I would only qualiy as independant because I'm over the age of 23! Community college won't help students apply for loans, it's suppossed to be affordable. Arnold has raised the 'fees' TWICE, it is getting to the point where even if I get a job, I'm not sure I could afford to actually go to community college. The price per unit was raised from 11 to 18 dollars, and I thought they raised it again, but the site doesn't show it as being upped. I thought it was at like 26-27$ per unit.

I've talked to repukes about this subject. I was told that I was 'living beyond my means' and that I was immoral because I was living with my girlfreind (never mind that I would be homeless without her). They then bitched about having to pay any money to support education at all. And that everyone should pick themselves up by the boot straps.

So then I asked them why the Iraqi's needed 87 Billion dollars of OUR tax dollars (hence my sig line). Their responses were... 'enlightening'. All of this wonderous stuff comming from a Republican governor who is all ra ra education and wants to help the children. Apparently he doesn't CARE if he fucks the students in the ass. But hey, there you go.

11. did you file a fafsa
community colleges changed the fee waivers this year to help people like you that don't automatically qualify for the BOGG fee waiver to still have their fees waived based on the information in your fafsa. and if your community college isn't offering loans than something is wrong with your school, federal loans are available at any school level. my official cost of attendence at a jc in california last year was $20,000! that's certainly not "affordable" without aid!

12. I filed last year and didn't even get a statement back!
I went into the financial aid office and she asked if I got my statement which they never sent out. Maybe I'll file again and see what happens. Too bad I've misplaced my f'ing W-2's so I don't know the exact ammount of income I made.

13. you shouldn't really get a statement
it should be sent electronically to the school. did you file it online? check the fafsaa website and see if you can file a renewal because thats a lot easier than filing a new one. you can just estimate your income level.

7. Another victim of the Bush economy
I feel you man.
It may be coincidence but my life has fucking reeked since Bush won that election. I'm going to blame it on him because if it's not him then it must be me... And it just can't be me! :D

9. Well...
My life was REALLY REALLY great for a while. Yep, I was out of work, coasted on my own money for a bit, got unemployment, coasted on that, it was really nice, I loved life. I felt like a uber rich person who didn't have to work. Then I started looking for work. 9 months later I finally found something, after being unemployed for 14 months.

I should have gone to school, I had the money to do it at the time and would probably have gotten thru community college and into state by then. But I fucked up and now that chance is gone FOREVER. I'm a drafter, and they're outsourcing those to India. And Bush doesn't GIVE A DAMN. I'm not so sure that Kerry really gives a damn either, but I know he'll at least be better than that dirty fucktard we presently have.

10. Think positive. Look on the bright side. Walk on the sunny side of the
street.

Things get better, all evidence to the contrary notwithstanding.
