The trouble is, when they aren't being preachy or political, (political meaning right-wing,) his comic strips are hilarious.

What one of his characters keeps doing to smarmy TV reporters is a really funny running gag, the last one tried climbing over a wire fence to "ambush report" someone, byut that someone switched the electric fence back on. :D

13. Cheap shot.

I get tired of liberals taking shots at the way people look, when the way people think gives you plenty enough to work with.

I feel sorry for this guy. He's terribly angry and misguided but he's not stupid, just fucked up. I once knew someone who looked a lot like him, and even drew in a similar style. But he wasn't bitter; in fact, he was the funniest person I've ever known. His life was cut tragically short, which may be why I feel bad for this one.

I don't know what that has to do with liberals ragging a guy for being fat, but I'm sorry to hear you lost your friend.

My friend was born with one kidney, a little problem doctors didn't know about till it was too late.

This guy is fucked up, but not because he's fat. I would hope because he's fucked up and not stupid that he might be salvageable. Not that I'm in the salvage business; but in some ways he reminds me of my friend who would have been 52 this past Wednesday. So I'm a little nostalgic.

Went through the USMC training and was posted overseas in a Combat Unit until he got sick one day ...a "little" heart problem the doctors didn't know about it until it was too late.

Regan gave him "Welfare."

My Mom died because she was old and had a choice of food or medication in "the New America" on her retirement income. She chose to eat.

...but it's not the guy's weight that makes him reprehensible to me. When he gets to the part in his journal about his weight problem, it reflects a typical neocon "it's not my fault" mindset.

He's overweight, I smoke too much.

It's no one's fault but mine that I smoke too much, and it doesn't make me rant and rave against the world that I do.

He's just very unstable, and, yes, perhaps that is to be pitied. But, when he finally snaps, it will be hard to chose to sympathize with him rather than his victims. Plus, his sort of mentality is what fuels the Bush propoganda.

I understand what you're saying, and I agree. It's so seldom, though, that I see in someone on the other side something that I recognize in someone on our side, that it makes me wonder how he ended up there. It doesn't help that I've stayed up too late while avoiding finishing a project, and the lack of sleep plus sentimentality have made me a little wistful. But I finished my project, so I'm taking myself to bed. Ta. :)

I guess I still have a BMI of less than 25 (I'm 160 lbs or 11&1/2 stone in real money), but I'm starting to get a little bit of a belly. So I'm going to start adding an extra hill onto my cycle into work, & eat a little less.
