Grrr... Why does my sound keep stopping in the middle of AAR
It's not AAR... it's that effing Realplayer. It goes on fine for a while, then suddenly, NO Sound! No beeps, no nothing. I close Realplayer and sound is back. The I get back into the stream and a while later it happens again. Sometimes, I have to log-out entirely and re-login to get the sound back, and sometimes I have to reboot.

I'm a technical person and have tried everything. I think it's a lost cause and a bug in Realplayer. Does anyone else have this problem?

1. I have the same problem. It gets quite annoying.
Does anyone here on DU know how to solve that problem?

2. Sounds Like Bandwidth
Even if you are on DSL or cable or something more powerful, you can still experience bottlenecks based on the sender's bandwidth and transmission protocol.

I think it's probably the case that AAR's internet streaming is being overwhelmed by people wanting to connect. Depending on the platform (i.e. Windows Media Player, Realplayer), sometimes you can re-connect and establish a better connection than the one you initially or otherwise previously had.

If you're on dial-up, that's probably you're bandwidth problem.

4. I wouldn't think it to be a bandwidth problem
when the sound goes out entirely on my PC. Even error beeps.

7. Yikes
Wow...that does sound like something more fundamental than bandwidth.

12. Nope...
I even have one of those memory programs that go and retrieve your leaked memory when it gets to a certain point. :(

6. Download bandwidth issues.
Internet media streaming is an evolving and inexact science.

3. Try WLIB's website.
http://www.wlib.com/new_lib/indexf2.html

Don't be confused by the website.

They still haven't updated it from the previous format. :wtf:

15. Ok, I give up....
Just had to restart Realplayer 3 times in the last 15 minutes. Now I'm on WLIB. Does it play the same schedule as AAR? (meaning at the right times, Morning Sedition, etc.?)

5. Some advertising spots don't broadcast over the internet.
If the sound goes dead and it is possibly where an advertisement spot might be, it could be that the ad is not running over the internet stream because the advertiser hasn't paid for the internet broadcast of the ad.

The sound will come back after the ad is over.

10. Nope. That's not it. And on the AAR stream, the commercials are...
broadcast. It's ALL the sound on the PC that goes.

11. Well, at least if I can't fix the problem...
It's good to know that others have the same experience... Now, I can stop wasting my time looking for a solution. :)

thanks!

14. Good idea... I've used other links...however
most of them seem to only have the O'Franken Factor at the actual time it airs. Do you know which one airs the same schedule as AAR?

16. When this happens
Edited on Fri May-28-04 12:10 PM by Wilber_Stool
hit ctrl + alt + del (on XP) and take a look at your CPU usage. I's probably maxed. Time to re-boot.
