1. I can't believe someone voted for Fargo
When I saw the scene with the wood-chipper, I had to turn that one off...

20. Agreed
Fargo was the first film of theirs I saw, and it took a lot of convincing to get me to watch another.

Depressing, stomach-turning, and not at all funny.

:puke:

27. Not funny?
Oh, well, I find the Three Stooges excrutiating. Humor is very subjective.

21. My family repeats
lines from The Big Lebowski all the time. It's very annoying for people who haven't seen the movie. We especially like "Is this your homework, Larry? Is this your homework?" Sigh. Guess you see why it's annoying.

8. Another vote for RA
That is my all time favourite movie...only because everything about it is perfect. The casting, dialogue, camarawork, music...everything. I bet I have seen that movie 250 times, no kidding. I can quote it verbatim, much to the dismay of anyone who happens to be watching it with me! :D

"Alright you hayseeds, this is a stickup! Everybody freeze! Everybody down on the ground!!"
"Well, which is it, young fella, you want I should freeze or get down on the ground? I mean to say, if'n I freeze, I cain't rightly drop, and if'n I drop, I'm a-gonna be in motion. Y'see..."
"SHUT UP!! Everybody down on the ground!!"
"Ok, then" :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

9. It was so hard to decide between
Raising Arizona and Fargo, but I chose Fargo. Frances McDormand was great, her oscar was well deserved.

11. I'm not even a Nicolas Cage fan
but I LOVED Raising Arizona (I also liked him in Moonlighting, but I digress). John Goodman was priceless in Raising Arizona, hysterical in The Big Lebowski, and creepy as all get-out in O, Brother - I think Goodman is often very unfairly underrated as an actor. But my favorite actor is in one of these choices...Jeff Bridges in the Big Lebowski. You just can't beat it. Dude.

"Am I the only sane person here?!" John Goodman, waving a loaded .45 around in the bowling alley

and trade lines with us. My son considers this movie a dealbreaker with his girlfriends. They have to watch "The Big Lebowski" and like it. Or the relationship is over.

It used to be the king of ALL Twin Cities high schools back in the '60's. Seriously.

...the answer is St. Louis Park high school. Interesting fact, cause Al Franken is in the news with that crap lawsuit, and all. And we were talking about the Coen brothers...

Unfortunately the silent Fargo voters don't seem to have much to back it up. All a matter of taste I suppose, maybe they never :smoke:

But I've always had a soft spot for "The Hudsucker Proxy".

"Barton Fink" completely gooned me out.

18. "Hudsucker Proxy" was a really good story, but not really funny, IMO.
I watched it and concetrated on the plot. Some people said to me that it was really funny, but I didn't think so. It was still a good movie.

for purely estrogen related reasons. Tim Robbins was at the peak of deliciousness in this movie- just a gorgeous guy.

37. Miller's Crossing
great tribute to gangster films like "The Glass Key", and great performances by Gabriel Byrne, Albert Finney, and many of the Coen regulars.

Loved them all, actually, and you didn't list "The Man who Never Was" with Billy Bob, James Gandolfini, etc. Blood Simple in the same vein of noire cinema!

And the funny stuff like Big L. Love the scene where they dump Steven Buscemi's ashes and they blow back into their faces!!!

Love them all, actually.
