How did you (would you) learn Macromedia Flash?
Are there any suggestions better than Flash for Dummies (which sounds really, really crude, by the way)? Or is it pretty self-evident?

I've been getting increasingly obsessed with the idea of creating educational software and sharing it over the Internet, and the commonsense approach to doing that is using the software that's already on most people's computers. Probably won't be profitable, but ought to be fun, and might be a ticket back to academia.

2. Macromedia tutorials
then just do it. No better training than trying it 'til you get stuck, go to Help, etc. There aren't really any short cuts.

4. Agree with all of the above, as well as...

Macromedia Flash MX 2004 Hands-On Training
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0321202988/qid=1086032864/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/104-0978774-6799139?v=glance&s=books

...a product of Lynda Weinman's "lynda.com" (http://www.lynda.com/)

She also takes a hands-on, "no shortcuts to learning" approach with all of her "H.O.T." materials.

I would start with the free Macromedia on-line tutorials first. If you are comfortable with them, as well as the "Training From The Source" books, and still want more...check out lynda.com.

5. Thanks everybody! Terrific advice from all
and it's always nice to avoid giving money to the "for Dummies" empire.
