It is a lot healthier for you body in my opinion. It seems to be very close to a diabetic diet and a lot of the recipes in the cookbook are dishes that my grandmother (a diabetic) used to make for herself.
South Beach is a better fit for me because I don't take in large amounts of meat. For the most part I eat mostly chicken and turkey. I haven't had pork in over 11 years. I only occasionally have red meat. ( When I am in a hurry and want a double cheese burger from McDonald's hold the cheese)
I would starve to death on Atkins. but that is just me!!
About 4 weeks in. I lost 10 pounds in the first two weeks and then stalled a bit when I started adding carbs back in.
I had a really miserable first two days- really bad legs cramps and then I got food poisoning. I'm in China and I can't get a lot of the ingredients or eat raw salad (I have to cook all the veggies).
It seems reasonable to me and is helping me get my allergies under control. We'll see if I actually lose any more weight.
I like Dr. Weil and he recommends it over any other program out there.
