The Mystery of why my Dog, my only and favorite dog, got deathly ill.
He was about to die a couple weeks ago. He couldn't eat. He wasn't his usual self. No energy. Stuff coming out of his eyes and mouth. Couldn't drink water. I thought for sure he was going to die.

After 7 days, he got better. He's a tough old dog.

I found out today that they arrested two teenagers that have been going around giving animals in their yards antifreeze to drink.

I could kill them. If they only knew the pain they have caused.

Dumb ass fucking low life ignorant careless pieces of human shit.

My dog is fine now, but many in the area have apparently died.

I'll be more vigilant.

Watch out for your pets! There are evil little ignorant pieces of human shit walking around pretending to be people.

1. Oh, I am so sorry to hear this
This just pisses me off beyond belief. You are so lucky your dog is okay!!!

When my dad was a little boy, he had a little dog named Poncho, and some neighbor kids threw some kind of acid in the dog's face and blinded him. My dad still cries when he talks about it - almost 60 years later. You just wonder what the fuck is wrong with people.

2. Horrible way to get your kicks...kids are morally bankrupt it seems
Man, that is rough. Be sure to monitor his kidney function.
Sometimes dogs recover but their kidneys are badly affected.
Crystals can form that can be problematic, or worse.

When I was a kid, I was no angel, but this is really sorry.

Glad he bounced back. Nothing like a good dog, for a friend.

22. They need treatment ...

This is the first step on the path to murdering people. A complete lack of empathy. Fortunately, kids can often undergo intervention and work through some of that stuff.

But you're right, if they did that to my dog I'd want to beat on them for a while.

3. I knew some kids...
who ripped the eye out of a cat. Then they would torture it... I got so mad, I beat them up and took the cat to the Human(e) Society...

I DID learn that violence solves nothing, as I spent a long time grounded for hurting them...

6. Violence does solve something
if it stops the ongoing violence and torture of others.

Whoever grounded you didn't probably understand the entire story, for one reason or another, but that doesn't make your action any less heroic.

Fighting for a cause, fighting to defend those that cannot defend themselves, is honorable.

4. Dogs are so much better than people.
I believe that they have no sin.

I've been married for 23 years and decided that we would rather raise dogs than children. We just got (rescued) our fourth Irish Terrier on Friday. Duffy and Jerry are now gone.

There is a jerk kid here in Denver that is on trial for burning to death some puppies that he stole from a shelter. I don't think that he will make it to the gate at the Rainbow Bridge where our dogs will be waiting for us.

7. The antidote for human exposure to anti-freeze
is alcohol.... Or at least it can stop the deadly effects until hemodialysis is preformed.

I had a murder case in ICU a few years ago. Husband kept placing small amounts of anti-freeze in his wife's mixed drinks. She didn't get ill immediately as the alcohol blocked the effects. Eventually it did make her deathly ill to where she was not drinking alcohol....she eventually ended up in ICU with kidney failure. Anti-freeze is rather fast acting and she did not survive.

your little dog is okay. May he forget his suffering. I simply cannot understand why anyone would injure a little being, like that.

11. I'll agree with everything you said about the kids except
for the careless part. They weren't fucking careless. They deliberately fed animals anti-freeze and there ain't nothing careless about that!

And my knee-jerk reaction is to find a causitive agent that would do the same to these kids as it did to the defenseless animals. Harsh? So what! They used anti-freeze because they knew it would hurt and possibly kill the animals. Just wait til they graduate to killing humans.

12. Lobby
your elected representatives/humane society/other animal lovers to assure that Animal Abuse Laws are in place and are consiered Felonies! Serial killers begin with the torture of animals in their youth! Be proactive and stay alert!

Hope your dog makes a complete recovery and brings you many, many more years of love & companionship!

13. Thank you for your ideas and kind thoughts
My dog now seems fine, but something has to be done. When it is kids involved, I want to give them another chance to learn through forced programs of some type, but am pessimistic about the outcome. I want to give them a chance, but I don't see it helping. As a poster noted earlier, (my words now), if a kid kicks and tortures an animal, they are almost destined to do the same to people in their life later.

I don't know what to do.

I hate them, I want them to get help/education, but I think it is useless.

I never thought to check on my dogs when they are playing in the back yard but I will now. Thanks for the heads up. I live in a freeper neighborhood so I tend to be more vigilant anyway.

16. Well, none of us wants to get paranoid, but
damn.

When it happens, all we can be thankful for in this area is that they caught the little bastards.

Most kids, I hope and want to believe, are still "good."

21. I did see the vet
Edited on Mon May-31-04 07:18 PM by Snoggera
and at the time, all she could tell me was that there seemed to be a mass in his stomach area that she couldn't explain. Got me worried about tumors and such, but it turned out to be neighbor satan bastards trying to kill my dog.

The only thing the vet could say was bring him back next weekend, and we'll have a look at him.

I lost my confidence in their knowledge at that moment.

19. Little serial killers in training?
I love animals, especially dogs that my initial reaction is that these kids need to be punished to the fullest extent of the law, but not before a good ass kicking.

However, cruelty to animals is a sign that these are some mentally fucked up kids in need of some kind of psychological intervention.....otherwise, I think what you have are some little serial killers in the making.

23. A buddy of mine lost his cat to this same kind of crap.
Just within the last month of two. Some guy in his subdivision was BRAGGING about how he put out anti-freeze for the cats in the neighborhood to drink...

I suggested my buddy should go use Roundup to write "PET KILLER" in three feet wide letters on this guy's front lawn. My buddy's solution was... Um, well, I'll not go there, but I do think it must have been most emotionally satisfying.

I hate bastards that do that shit. (Bear in mind, however, that I am a sucker for animals. I just started feeding a stray today because I thought she looked underfed...)

25. I had a cat that was left brain damaged from drinking anti-freeze.
Punk arsewipe neighbor didn't like the cat WALKING in his yard. Poor kitty was left with a sagging head and couldn't walk three feet without falling down so my mother had it put to sleep.

Mysteriously this neighbor found it necessary to replace his car tires, one at a time, during the course of the following month.

Edited on Mon May-31-04 08:17 PM by Rowdyboy
Someone fed him hamburger meat mixed with ground glass and he died in her arms. She never again allowed herself to become attached to a dog, much as she wanted too.
