A question for you.........

What 10 websites would you recommend to someone who has bought his/her first computer?

They don't have to all be political sites.

I am putting my list together now and will post it later. :D

This is the funniest website EVER

http://www.x-entertainment.com

He writes super funny articles about toys or movies from the 80s.

But ok he/she must have grown up in the 80s to appreciate this one.

Othervise www.imdb.com is a great site with information about .. just about every movie ever created in the west hemisphere.

Most of the sites I visit have already been mentioned in this thread.

http://www.weirdlinks.com/index.htm

Some of the stuff they post is bizarre but often they print some funny stuff, especially in the news links section.

17. Bartleby
Edited on Fri Aug-22-03 03:08 PM by undisclosedlocation
http://www.bartleby.com/ I mainly use it for the searchable American Heritage dictionary online (complete with pronunciation sound files) but just about everything else you can imagine is there, too.

http://www.iidb.org/vbb/index.php Internet Infidels, atheist/agnostic discussion board, home of the legendary Ready.org parody

AdAware, Zone Alarm, Spybot Search&Destroy, HijackThis: All free, all indispensable. Probably simplest just to get them through c/net.

http://www.alltheweb.com/ Some folks say these guys are faster and better than Google. Can't say I noticed the difference.

http://www.blogspot.com/ for blogger. New computer? Must start your blog immediately

Meeeeeeee: http://home.earthlink.net/~pudntane/ Must read all 4 pages; there will be a test.

Edit: I forgot the AP Wire: http://customwire.ap.org/dynamic/fronts/HOME

18. Besides DU...
http://www.amazon.com (even if I'm not planning to buy an item from them, they have great info on the music and books I'm interested in)

http://www.mudcat.org/ (a tremendous source for lyrics, recordings, and info on folk music)

http://www.redjellyfish.com (articles, products, e-cards, and activist opportunities for the eco-conscious)

http://www.amnesty.org/ (if you can tolerate a little eye-opening)

http://www.thehungersite.com (this will direct the user to several "daily click for charity" sites)

http://www.beliefnet.com (interesting articles regarding various religions and their stance on contemporary issues with discussion boards)

http://www.beeradvocate.com/ (a good source for info about beer)

http://www.mbayaq.org/efc/efc_fo/fo_ottr_cam.asp (great webcam and some links to others if you enjoy animals and sea life)

http://www.volcanolive.com/volcanocams.html (live webcams of volcanoes)

http://www.theultimates.com/white/ (because lately I find 411 and my phone books to be totally useless)
