7. Serious question: Why heterosex free?
Why no sex with the opposite sex? I'm a bisexual male and enjoy sex with both men and women greatly (I'm also married to a bisexual woman). I have absolutely no problem with men who love men or women who love women, but since both sexes can be equally talented at giving physical pleasure I have a hard time understanding why anyone would willingly deny themselves the pleasures of the opposite sex.

I know this issue is often the source of rifts between gays and bi's, but I've actually never asked a strict homosexual about it before. No disparagement meant, just seeking enlightenment O8)

13. Simple
I'm not sexually attracted to women. I love women and most of my friends are female. Not that seeing a beautiful woman doesn't turn my head, but not in a sexual way.

26. Ah.
So it's like the being the "opposite" of straights...the opposite sex is just a complete sexual turnoff? I dunno, that's just such a foreign concept to me...I'm turned on by damn near everybody! :loveya:

30. Yeah, that would be it.
It's not that it's a turn off, sex with a woman is not a turn on. I've made out with girls before and I've totally enjoyed it. But as far as getting down and nasty ....... nawwwwwww!

Now if ya threw in a hot guy in the mix ......... that would make a BIG difference.

40. Hey, I'm with you, Xithras...
I happen to like men more than women, which is a good thing for me (widens my dating pool quite a bit), but let's just say I wouldn't kick you or your wife out of my bed for eating crackers (in fact, I'd probably ask you to pass me the box)...if you guys are cute, that is. ;-) Anything that moves, honey, and twice if I like it!

So, Ronnie, what's your opinion of gays and lesbians who feel like they have to be the stereotypes, you know, the really flaming limp-wristed lisping guy in the Eurotrash clothes or the short-haired, axe pendant-wearing girl who won't give a man the literal time of day, let alone anything else? I ran into a few of these people at my first university, and they drove me nuts. (The people in my grad school Queer Theory class -- different uni -- were much more well-adjusted!)

45. Floating of boats
Edited on Fri Aug-22-03 06:44 PM by ronnykmarshall
<<So, Ronnie, what's your opinion of gays and lesbians who feel like they have to be the stereotypes>>

I think a lot of it comes with different generations. It seems that more when I was coming out in the 1980's there were less and less stereotypes than previously. But this might be just from my own experiences.

I've always seem to swim against the tide and most of the people around me as well. I hate the divide between the sexes. The man hating lesbians and lesbian hating men. Most of my friends gay and straight are female so I've had to put up with a lot shit.

As for the stereotypes, it's all about floating boats (whatever floats your boat). But I hate that people feel that they need to be in sync with what they are "supposed" to look and act like. Being libertated means being able to be who you are and what you are.

Or a Mexican flag. It's a sign of pride. Has nothing to do with shoving it someones face.

9. Great thread!
I live in a largely gay neighborhood. Now, I know the rainbow flag is the GLBT flag, but what's with the one that is (I think) blue, gray, black and maybe white, with the little heart in the corner? Is that a gay-oriented flag?

Also, is CNN's Suzanne Malveaux a lesbian? I heard from someone who works at CNN that she is. She's gorgeous either way, of course.

We had free tickets on Delta nonstop to JFK, I still remember it well
our flight was delayed for 3hours, so we all went to the airport bar
and proceeded to get beveraged......they had to poor me on the plane
we took off, I ate the meal, and passed out, woke up 5hours later and were landing in New York, stayed at the Waldorf for $35 per person, I then took the Amtrak to BWI, my FAA friend picked me up
and spent a few hours there, then took the metro to downtown DC
a friend of mine from Portland was there on business (lobbyist)
and another friend from Eugene was there, so I stayed in the Embassy suites with my friend from Portland, and there was tons of people
around, and who do I run into, out of almost a million people, but my friend from Eugene, We took in all the sights, and the speeches
it was awesome to be there. Then late Sunday night I took the Amtrak
back to New York, and went back to the hotel, and they were having a
party for Neil Simon there, so I ran into Martin Short, got his autograph, he is a nice guy, and Bernadette Peters, Paul Sorvino,
Anthony Quinn. And then flew back Monday morning.
Fantastic trip I will never forget.

The temperature was in the high 60's to low 70's all week with a great breeze coming off the Pacific. Made my usual trek to the Muir Woods and wound up every night at the City Lights Bookstore being sure to use my credit card so John Ascroft can keep a good and proper watch on my reading habits. http://www.citylights.com/

Some others might. I love Will and Grace and some may not like it, but there plenty of people like Jack and Karen around. Hell, I can give "Just Jack" a run for his money ...... or money he "borrowed" from Will or Karen that is.

Queer Eye? I haven't seen it yet. But everyone I talk to seems to like it.

Some folks think show like these are stereotypes and negative. I don't.

18. funny story about a gay friend of mine
We went to Slavic summer school together at IU. There were a lot of gay men that particular summer. One night, I organized a huge party on the roof of the dorm, and hook-ups abounded. I heard my friend inside one of the women's dorm rooms, having sex, later that night. So, being the good friend I am, I had to harrass him the next day.

His comment, after being embarrassed that I'd caught him: "I never knew it was so low!"

What... like vaginas were up by the belly button or something?

28. Timeline here Ronny!!
How old were you when you considered you liked boys better than girls (ie you noticed you liked playing with Ken Dolls with the GIJOe dolls instead of the Barbie Dolls - I know, bad example).

And in 1980 - were you officially out all the way or were some people still in the dark!

I love posts like this - only because it's living proof that those rabid religious people need to get their heads out of their asses!

35. Good questions!
Let's see. I knew I liked boys when I was in grammar school. There was this HOT guy in the 6th grade (I was in the 2nd) that my girl cousins were all love with. Since my cuz knew him, of course I got to be friends with him as well. I remember one time a bunch of us were hanging around goofing off and he picked me up and gave me a piggy back ride when we walking back from a local store. I almost fainted!

As far as the Barbie vs. GI Joe gig, I never had a GI Joe but I liked to play car wreck with my cousin's Barbies and my Tonka trucks. Pissed 'em off! Naturally I wanted Barbie's black friend Midge(?) to have two sisters so I could play The Supremes!

As far as when I came out. I came out ALL the way out in late 1980. I was 19 and my best friend (female) and I came out together. My brother did as well.

37. With me it was more like
Noticed I wasn't straight.

I watched straight schoolmates go through puberty. It was awful to watch. Some girl would walk past the classroom twitching her fanny and the straight boys would completely lose it. They wouldn't be able to talk, they'd forget how to walk and crash into things. I waited around for that happen...and waited....and waited.

Then I noticed that whenever a particularly cute boy walked past the classroom twitching his fanny I wouldn't be able to talk, I'd forget how to walk and crash into things.

Oh, well.
