What the hell is this? For NC DUers.
A friend of mine got a speeding ticket in North Carolina. The fine was $75.
She sent the money in and it was returned with a letter informing her that she would have to appear in court!
She thought it was odd that shortly after she got home (Nashville) there came a slew of letters from NC attorneys offering to represent her.
Now I think I know why. I smell a rotten system that wants to collect court costs and line the pockets of lawyers!
I told her to f**k them and let them come get her. I don't think they can. Anybody got experience with this?

1. dont ignore it
She needs to appear. Some states have hardship provisions. She can just ignore it, but when she seeks to renew her license, she will be told she cannot have a license until she pays it. Also, if the states have good relations, she could be arrested. The economy is slow and some areas are looking for any reason to loot you.

Dont fuck with this. Appear. Say yes sir. Fight another day.

3. Maybe one of those Lawyers Could Appear In Her Place
...and the fee may be less than the gas money, plus the inconvenience.

4. I had a friend who just paid up in Maine.
Trooper said she was going near 70 and I say hell she could not have been. But he also said he would take a few miles off, unless she fought the ticket, then he would say what the real speed was. It was over 100 for the ticket. Interesting that he had his gun out and let me tell you this lady is just under 70 years old and no one could have got their car going that fast in the place he stopped her. It was a rip off and he was going to make it even more awful if she went to court. Her son was wild but she paid it just to be done with it. I do not think I would have as I had a real run in with a trooper untill she pointed out I was driving with a sticker that was a year out of date. She was right.
