2. Love stone crabs.
Used to have them all the time in Florida, but here in Georgia, it's hard to find them.

our native Chesapeake Bay crabs is traitorous and sinful. Sorry.

6. I'm assuming by hardshells you mean the blue crab
which is my very favorite, favorite food in the whole world! The swimmers of the Cheasapeake are legend for their tasty sweet meat steamed with Old Bay, red pepper and salt.

10. Well... I Do Like Blue Crab Crabcakes...
especially from Phillip's whenever I visit Baltimore's Inner Harbor. But when it comes to cracking claws and pulling out the meat for dipping in butter, I love the snowcrabs.

13. Do You Like Soft-Shell Crabs?
I don't know how people can eat them. Are they "gutted" first? Don't the leave their little telescopic eyes in place? I just couldn't eat anything that "looks back" at me before I'd take the first bite.

17. They're fantastic! I was scared of them for years, but now I can't get
enuff of 'em.

They do take out the guts, btw, and any scary parts. Breaded and fried, or tempura battered, yum! I take 'em off the bread if they're a sandwich cuz the soft shell crab itself is so lovely.

19. Follow Up Question...
Okay, so they are gutted, and de-eyed... are the tendons still inside? Are they hard, rubbery and inedible? Or do you just crunch (gnaw) through them anyway?

7. Are Crabs Related To Spiders? Or Insects?
I've heard that lobster and shrimp are cousins of cockroaches... but I never knew if it was true or just an urban legend.

The only crab i didn't like was fried soft shell. Looked and felt like a Tarantula.Every fall we go to Destin Fla, where i gorge myself on crab and Corona for a week.

Have a t-shirt that says Life Liberty and the pursuit of Crab.

20. Live, happy, free crabs safe from human consumption!
Sorry, I'm vegetarian, and anyway, I'm allergic to crabs from back when I ate meat. We grew up on the nasty little buggers because they were so easy to catch. They are pure poverty food where I'm from. I get sick just thinking about them.

Sorry to interrupt. Back to the serious comments. :-)

25. Aren't Dungeness and King crabs the same creature?
I have a vague memory of hearing, when I lived in Seattle, that some daggone marketer decided "Dungeness" just wouldn't sell, so started labelling them "King" instead.
