Hi,

I don't post nearly as much as I used to. There are still tons of great people I know who've been here forever like me, but there are all kinds of new folks I've hardly had a chance to get to know. Sometimes I lurk the Lounge and GD and feel like a stranger. A lot of new folks seem really great too.

So, Hi. I'm Rene. I was once a Lounge Mod. I used to post about 20 times a day, and now I only post a few times a week. I'm a bisexual woman married to a man and we're going to have our first kid in September. I work for 2 non-profits, providing direct services to the NYC LGBT community at one and raising money for breast cancer research and to provide treatment for uninsured women with breast cancer at the other. I'm a musician, and so is my husband. We have 3 cats. Last year I was in a terrible car accident and had to completely re-learn how to walk. That was one of the most definitive moments in my life.

I mostly play guitar. My husband plays drums, guitar, bass and trumpet.

Yeah..the place has gotten big...but we like crowds full of liberals even if it takes away that smaller more intimate feel...hope you, and Cliff are doing well...and that everything continues to go well with your pregnancy.

I'm pretty pleased with how it's going. My hip is holding up great. I know I've asked my body to do a lot lately. It's being pretty good. ;-)

We're doing great. Still a lot to do to get the baby's room ready. But we'll get there. How are you?

Cranky, as usual. ;-) Hard not to be these days. I'm having throat issues and haven't been able to sing for over three months now. Not that I've had anything going, but to not have the options sucks.

But, like I always tell my hubby Batboy (aka mkuhl), it can always be worse, so no use bitching too much about what I'm handed. Not that that stops me some days! }(

Good luck with your first baby! My husband and I have 4 wonderful boys (well, not so wonderful today. It is raining and summer vacation and they are not getting along very well at the moment! :) )

I am a permanent piddler. I resigned from my job (I was a case manager for pregnant teen-agers or teen-age mothers. Tried to help them get back to school or get job training. It was part of the welfare to work program. We provided them with money for childcare, transportation, basically everything they needed so they could better their lives). Now I spend alot of my time between getting my kids where they need to go, the garden or DU.

I am not a musician but my husband is. He is a graduate of Musicians Institute. He is quite an accomplished guitar player. He plays in a band so we get out and enjoy "nights out" when he plays. Helps us keep our sanity raising kids! Our 8 year old son is on the way to becoming an accomplished drummer. He comes by it naturally. So we will soon have kids and music in common and our desire to help others!

I don't play gigs anymore. Mostly I record at home and produce CDs for other local musicians in our home studio.

I wish I didn't have to go back to work now. Time flies in The Lounge.

I'm a relative newbie, so I don't know you, but you certainly sound like an interesting person :D Awesome on the non-profit work! My mom works for one that runs a camp for mentally handicapped adults.

I'm a database admin, about to be unemployed, (more time to go climb rocks!) married, and we have a daughter who's 18 months... Have fun with your kiddo! Heck, if you can learn to walk again, having a kid ought to be a breeze, right? ;)

...when I lived in Sedona. I think I'd need a LOT more physical therapy to be able to do that again, but I probably could if I worked really hard.

I'm just happy I'm having a healthy pregnancy and haven't had to go on bedrest.

I am downright jealous, LOL. I'm glad you're having a healthy pregnancy, as well. Our bodies are pretty amazing, that they can grow new, little people! Especially after what yours has been through, that's really awesome that everything is going well!

Things are pretty good. Looks like I'm up for another big promotion either just before or just after my maternity leave. I hope it goes through because I want my hubby to be able to be a SAHD, and he would LOVE not to have to work, at least not full time.

And I'm still walking around, so my body's doing a pretty good job.

Sometimes I can't believe that I'm almost 7 months pregnant, and about 9 months ago I was in a wheelchair. My doctor wanted me to wait and was afraid I'd end up on bed-rest, but I'm walking around just fine. I'm slow, and it does hurt, but it wouod hurt anyway. Those kind of breaks just hurt for a long time. But I'm really doing way better than anyone thought. I'm pretty happy.

BTW, I'm waiting to hear about my "baby" too--my first book finally went to the publisher this week. I plan to self-publish if it's not picked up (common practice among storytellers) but the waiting is the hard part!
