Describe your dream home...and dream address
I'd have a 5-bedroom colonial oceanfront house (on either coast) with hardwood floors, wall-to-wall built-in bookcases, a huge kitchen island, a pool table and wireless throughout. The address would be 14862 Starwood Lane, and the estate would be named Carrickfergus (I like those numbers, I think John Denver's "Starwood in Aspen" is a nice title, and Carrickfergus is for both Ireland and my late kitty Fergus.)

3. Spanish Style Hacienda with the center courtyard
Every room in the house has an opening onto that courtyard. In the Florida keys. So I can watch the sunset on the Gulf and take my cat out when I feel like it.

I don't care where. I've heard that it's beautiful there and it's full of liberals. Sounds perfect to me.

12. Huge old broken down mansion
Heated by fireplaces. Convert the basement into a recording studio (easy walking distance to the wine cellar). Computer room. Art room. Screaming room. Dark arts room. Paint main dining room black with black place settings. Library with 10000 volumes. Home theatre the size of a theatre with 10000 watt sound system c/w THX. Big garden out back with lots of rose and raspberry bushes. Anything else with prickles.

13. Something green
A nice two-story home, built roughly on the principles of an Earthship (www.earthship.org). I'd build it using discarded and local materials like old tires, strawbales, and clay. It'd be heated with a masonry stove and sunlight, and use the sun for electricity and hot water heating while I'm at it. Totally off the grid. Rainwater would be captured for drinking, bathing, and gardening, and the greywater recycled back to the garden.

The landscape would be one large permaculture garden, with an additional greenhouse attached to the house to provide wintertime veggies and humidity.

I'd put it all near Burlington, VT or Quebec City.
