3. Hmmmm......
Has Madonna had any other publicity lately?

Publicity stunt all the way. Who cares?

4. Damn! I was hoping SOMEBODY would defend Esther...
...and her recent foray into "spirituality". Such posts would be pretty funny.

Say what you want, Ester's still not as flaky as Sinead O'Connor...

5. Nor is "Esther" as good a singer as Ms. OConnor.

11. True, but she IS a helluva lot more disciplined...
...work-ethic-wise.

Temperamental Sinead's always going from one emotional turmoil to the next. I wish her well, but unfortunately for her fans, she's really not much of a "trouper".

6. Neither--this is her idea of a career move
Edited on Sat Jun-19-04 09:49 PM by rocknation
Whether advertising for a sperm donor; putting unreleased material on the Internet so she could threaten those who dowloaded it; bragging that she almost turned down an awards show appearance because she'd have to skip breast-feeding her baby; or self-censoring her anti-war video to show she supports the troops, she's had to resort to coming up with these headline-grabbing publicity stunts because she's too old and untalented to get away with merely being sexy anymore. And have you noticed that she only does these things when she has an album or tour to promote?

8. "Too old" to be sexy anymore???!!
I am offended by that comment. We women in our forties can be plenty sexy: the guy 16 years younger than me who I've been banging for the past year could tell you how wrong you are!

And we women in this age group don't appreciate being called "old," nevermind "too old"!

10. That's not what the poster said.
It said ( I paraphrase) she can't get by on sex appeal alone. That's true. Madonna is still very sexy. Hell, Lauren Bacall is still kinda sexy, but the idea that they can compete with the young pop-tarts on sheer sexiness alone is ludicrous. Young pop-tarts don't need a lot of talent to get by. Forty-something performers who never distinguished themselves with much more than fashion sense and a flair for raising eyebrows had better work on their talent, or disappear from the stage gracefully.

12. Thank you, Delano
That's exactly what I meant when I wrote that Madonna is "too old AND untalented to get away with MERELY being sexy anymore."

9. Can you imagine if Madonna actually tried evolving into a SINGER?
She's old enough and rich enough that she has nothing left to prove except that her singing can stannd on its own merits.

Can you imagine her coming out in classy clothes and just doing sets of real songs a la Barbara Streisand or Anita Baker? She could even throw in a couple of her more grown-up songs like "Take a Bow " or "Rain".

I'd like it. I think the more desperately she clings to her "youth" and " contrvoersy", the sillier she looks. She should grow up already.

7. Madonna is so yesterday
It's another publicity stunt. She must feel threatened by Spears.
