what the hell does that mean? It's the title of a Tool song off of the Aenima album. I dig the song just not sure wht the hell 46 and 2 means. am I stoopid (don't answer that)?

Not exactly sure what it means, but maybe this will help.

Meaning of 46 and 2:

There are 3 different kinds of humans on the Earth, meaning that they perceive reality in three different ways:

42 and 2
44 and 2
46 and 2

the numbers refer to chromosome composition, double helix, DNA.

42 and 2 comprise a unity consciousness that does not see anything outside themselves as being separate from themselves. to them, there is only one energy - one life, one beingness that moves everywhere. Anything happening anywhere is within them, as well. they are like cells in the body. they are all connected to a single consciousness that moves through all of them. tribes in Africa are like this.

44 and 2: this is us. a disharmonic level of consciousness. how else can you explain George Bush? its a stepping stone from the current level to the next level...

46 and 2: the next level of human consciousness. all it takes is 2 extra chromosomes.

Sounds like a mid-season record for the Chicago Bulls in the mid-90's.

like EOTE posted after reading that and the lyrics you posted. He's talking about changing, possiblly reaching that next stage of development. Good going guys. I have a copy of the lyrics to all the songs off of that album (printed them out so I could learn what the hell he's saying on track 10 Die Eier Von Satan I believe is the title) but sometimes the meanings just elude me.

It was about Military School Hazing. I swear that I remember 46 and 2 being involved with a hazing ritual where they take the badges of the cadets and stab the pins into their chests and if they show any sign of pain they're then punished.

Funny that this topic should come up. I have been having my own personal TOOL revival for the past week and was reading about 46&2 (as well as all kinds of TOOL stuff) yesterday. (Psychic link anyone?)
Check out the rest of the site too. It's a little long-winded in spots but it's fascinating reading nonetheless.
