Top Spanish Matador Gets Gored, Thrown And Trampled During Bullfight
<snip>

MADRID, Spain -- One of Spain's top bullfighters was gored, thrown and trampled by a bull, leaving him with a 10-inch gash through his leg.

Enrique Ponce, 32, was preparing to finish off the animal at a bullfight Tuesday evening in the southeastern city of Alicante when the incident occurred.

The bull tossed him into the air, then trampled him as he covered his head with his hands.

Ponce initially wanted to keep fighting but was carried from the ring before fainting.

Ponce underwent emergency surgery at the bullring. Doctors said the bull's horn pierced through Ponce's right thigh. He also fractured his collarbone and two ribs.

2. good. Bullfighting is barbaric.
n/t

I mean, I don't wish the matador any long-term harm, but a non-lethal gouge or two should discourage him permanently, one hopes. Now if only it'd discourage the rest of the bullfighting enthusiasts...

3. Well of all the places that could happen........
I'd suspect "In a Bullfight" would be the most likely and the #1 Respond to a survey of 100 Americans.

4. I have been to that very bull-ring....
It is like a mini-coliseum....quite beautiful...

Good for the bull!! Whilst people may complain about how barbaric bull-fighting is, I might remind them that a) bulls taste really good when freshly grilled and served with a green salad, and b) at least in a bullfight the bull has an opportunity to take a couple sumbitches with him...

5. what are you smoking?
it is very rare that a bullfighter gets hurt, but nearly EVERY bull is killed ... after enduring torture equivalent and worse to what happened in Abu Ghraib, such as having ears and tails cut off while still living, etc.

What kind of person attends torture and kill events for entertainment?
