Positive public school story
Yesterday my litte guy got a postcard from his upcoming teacher with a homework assignment (bring in a picture of what you did this summer...photo or drawing)...and a positive message about the great year they are going to have!

It brightened his day to get some mail and he is all excited about what he is going to bring.. (photo of sandcastle building)...

1. Teachers did this when mine were beginning kindergarten and
you're right - it excited them to receive mail from the teacher (important person). It also seemed to calm their nerves as they felt there was going to be someone at school who actually cared about them.

Hope his excitement about the school year continues!

2. I remember when I was in elementary school
we needed to bring in a bag of air on the first day of school.

We then wrote stories and drew pictures about our bags of air, where they came from, etc.

4. My experience with school teachers,
both public and private, has been that the vast majority of them are truly dedicated, truly love teaching. They do their best under often trying circumstances, for relatively low pay and all too often a distinct lack of support from parents or the community at large.

My kids have also had their share of teachers who weren't very good or dedicated, or who just were a poor match with my particular children.

Hope your little guy stays excited all year, and every school year from now on.
