Yep. I'm shopping around for a nice cardboard box.

Due to the economy, a car accident in NH with a legally uninsured driver, and the condo I rent being sold Sept 9th, I'm down and out. Whooppee!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let's party!!!

1. wow that sucks
Can't you collect on your insurance though? Most people have uninsured driver coverage. I hope things get better soon.

8. Here's the plan
Involving the accident insurance, there are three answers to this: Yes, No, and Wait. I'm waiting.
We may move into a musician friends RV for a few weeks, as long as he doesn't need it for the road..ha ha.
Did I mention I applied for disability? Oh yeah, migrains and depression. Not to mention a seething resentment toward George Bush and every wealthy aristocrat in Mt. Washington Valley.
I applied for assistance. In NH you need to "wait" 90 days before they assist you.
Party on....

9. only in New Hampshire
is it legal for a driver not to be insured.

the Granite State has a somewhat libertarian approach to this. The only drivers legally required to have auto insurance are those with DUI OUI convictions.

that said most NH residents DO have auto insurance.

4. I don't usually answer the "ask me anything" posts but
I couldn't keep from giving you my support. I hope this works out for you and that you soon find an answer to your dilema.

There are many of us who are one check away from the streets. Thank you, Mr. Bush.

5. If you live in NH
Start traveling south SOON!

Preferably somewhere the streets are lined with fruit trees, and you don't need to wear a parka in January. Look for a University town somewhere, best of all. Easier access to things like showers, public restrooms, libraries, etc...

That is, unless you know someone/somewhere in NH you can 'couch surf' until Spring (or you get things turned around).

10. Auto insurance is not required in NH
I taled to the insurance commissioner and she said NH is a "Live Free or Die" state with no bus service in rural areas. Therefore, they don't burden the already poverty stricken with requiring them to get insured. AND, because I didn't break any bones or belled, the person who hit me did't get a blood test for drugs, which she admitted being on in the ambulance. Ha ha.

and rents are so high these days even if you find something. I hope things work out for you. If things get worse, put out a request to the DU community like Tiger Lilly did a year or two ago.

Any family members still above ground are seriously demented. It's a challenge, yessiree, but we'll get through it.
If and when I get my settlement, I'm donating to DU. It's the one thing that has gotten me through the past year.

16. there are a lot of "summer-only" farms in NH
Maybe you could arrange to caretake one of those for the winter? So many people have small farms and go south half the year. Get busy and make something good happen. In a couple of months it will be a lot worse.

21. I'm sorry...
I hope you're soon with a roof over your head that you can call home.

I read about a tent city on The Mall today. They're calling it Bushville, and a number of people were arrested for violating the terms of their demonstration permit. The protesters promise to be back regardless of how many are arrested.

I've never been arrested before. I have children who need me at home; but I'm tempted...I'm sorely tempted.
