OMG! They're making a Red Dwarf movie!
http://www.reddwarf.com/

AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH! I can hardly wait!!!

It's cold outside
no kind of atmosphere
all alone, more or less
let me fly far away from here
fun, fun, fun
in the sun, sun, sun

I want to lie shipwrecked and comatose
drinking fresh mango juice
goldfish shoals nibbling at my toes
fun, fun, fun,
in the sun, sun, sun
fun, fun, fun,
in the sun, sun, sun

3. It's a British sci-fi sitcom
Absolutely hilarious! Once in a while it shows up on PBS somewhere.

4. ah! that made my day
I haven't seen that show since I moved back to MT. Used to be on PBS in Seattle, esp. during pledge drives, and the closest video store had ALL their tapes.

Just seeing the words to that song makes me so happy. B-)

5. Been in the works since 1998 and what's been said is sacrilege!
Edited on Tue Aug-26-03 07:57 PM by HypnoToad
A movie and a 9th season, neither of which has gone much of anywhere.

After how badly season 8 of the tv show was handled in '98, I wish they would have stopped after season 6.

Their website is buggy too, lots of runtime errors keep popping up.

But the new ship design that looks like a lego that was smashed out of the extruding machine, a Kochanski that ISN'T, and a living Rimmer? No thanks, the show snuffed it in 1993... Rob Grant and Doug Naylor were a team. Separated from each other, the end result has been constant crapola.

But that's the tv show.

The movie is an utterly warped and perverted version where homo sapienoids have killed all but a handful of humans, who escape while the sapienoids hunt them all down and destroy all the fleeing ships in the fleet but one... Gee, that sounds just like the plot of "Battlestar Galactica", how imaginative! :eyes: I'll stick to the 1978-79 show, thanks all the same. Galactica that is, Red Dwarf's quality declined massively after season 5... and whose original concept was perfectly honed in season 2...

6. Holy Smeg!
Amazing!

I hope they manage to pull it off (so to speak). The later episodes started to get a little tired, but the earlier ones were absolutely classic.

"So what is it?"
"I don't know, but I'm guessing it's some kind of bubble in the space time continuum."
"So what is it?.....Just kidding."

7. Stasis Leak!!!
Awesome episode! Heck, is there an episode of series 2 that ISN'T awesome? Well, "Kryten" was a bit naff but his character became my favorite when he was re-introduced in series 3...

10. In the UK, the guy playing Kryten presented Junkyard Wars....
Which we called Scrapheap Challenge, because we're nice.

Errr.....Richard Llewellwyn, I believe???

The first episode with Kryten is hilarious!

I particularly like it when the crew meet Kryten and the women he looks after, who have decayed to skeletons. Kryten pops out, comes back with some tea and one of the crew says "They're dead". Kryten replies "But I was only gone for a minute!".

Genius.

That and the Despair Squid episode.

8. Been waiting for this a loooong time...
Kochanski in PVC pants was about the best thing from the last few seasons.

Still, I wish they'd continue where the series left off. Such a cliff-hanger, that last episode.

9. Any chance it'll be starring the original TV cast?

God, I hope so! They were all awesome.

12. They are, according to their website
Wouldn't be the same with different people. Anyone here ever see the American RD pilot? It was smeggin' awful, and not in a good way!

11. Smeggin' 'ell!!!!
it's about time! i was a RD fan from the 1st series... before they had a budget
and had to get by on the writing alone- which was absolutely brilliant!

Looking at the website I didn't see Rob Grant's name as writer... Doug Naylor
is listed but not Grants... a pity 'cause they were/are a great team.

Hope it's as much of a winner as the series was.

Chris Barrie is a friggin comic genius! Hope Ace Rimmer makes an
appearance in The Movie.... "What A Guy!"

14. Thanks for the lyrics
I never could understand the words to the theme song.

This is one movie I'll be going to without the spouse; she can't stand Red Dwarf
